I don't like Emmert or the scumbag University Presidents that kiss his ass. However, we need to understand that it was the PSU Board of Trustees who hired Freeh and provided the outline for his report. It's hard to blame the NCAA for feasting on "road kill." North Carolina and Baylor have trustees who would not only NOT invite sanctions, they will actually defend their universities. The outrage is misplaced if directed at the NCAA. Talk to Ira, Judas, Paul, Tommy Boy, Slimy John Surma, Look Like Me and Karen with the flies on her.

Sad to say it but you are 100% correct.

might not be because the crimes are less serious, it might be the NCAA making sure they cover their a$$ from a lawsuit because of the sanctions being too strict.....
How much does this help the Paterno lawsuit? Isn't this basically like saying "we (NCAA) were wrong in how we handled PSU and won't make that mistake again"?

emmert went on the record a few years ago saying that Penn State was a special situation and that he did not expect to penalize another school like that again.

As much as Penn State and Joe have been wrongly vilified for a culture problem and a cover-up, emmert has been rightly vilified for his actions against Penn State. Plus the ncaa was sued over it. He doesn't want to go through that again. Also, it's only baylor and art briles.

Also, there's not 24/7 media coverage. Much of what Emmert did to Penn State was b/c the country was watching and he's an attention whore. Baylor barely registers on the media'a radar.

PSU asked for sanctions. Unless I forget, they found an email which essentially proved that. And Hot Rod Erickson was on record as saying the football program had become too powerful in an interview with NYT or USA Today or one of those national papers. And PSU gave into the first demand. If PSU had a BOT and President that fought against the NCAA, the sanctions would have been much less.

Bulldump! Yeah our Board of Distrust is certainly to blame for causing this travesty, however, the NCAA knew they had no jurisdiction over the travesty. This was a civil matter, to be adjudicated in law, but they couldn't pass up the chance to make the huge politically correct - in their mind - jump into the issue. No NCAA rules were broken! They just wanted to flex their muscles in a show of power.
I cannot wait for the Paterno suit to begin.

Hey, let's not be too harsh, they saved their football tickets.

In the (almost) words of Vito Corleone......"Emmert is a pimp"

Totally agree how it's quite apparent through what was discovered during Corman's Lawsuit that Emmert had his own agenda planned... Wanted to show he as in charge and IMO was clearly making an example out of PSU...I find it interesting that at the same time over in the NFL Roger Goodell was faced with a similar disciplinary decision with The Saints and BountyGate... Both men were in positions to show everyone that they were the law...

Power is a very dangerous thing to have when you are thirsty..,

I think it's time for the Pennsylvania Attorney General to take the NCAA back into court for dealing with the Pennsylvania's Declared State Flagship Public University, via it's founding under both an Act of the Pennsylvania Legislature and the Federal Morrill Act of 1862, in an UNFAIR and clearly ILLEGAL manner (i.e., a clear violation of Interstate Commerce). The NCAA has just admitted that they dealt with PSU in an "arbitrary" and "capricious" manner with ZERO BASIS under their CONTRACTUAL AGREEMENTS with PSU and the granted self-regulatory and "Investigative Powers" of those CONTRACTUAL AGREEMENTS.

What's ironic is that the NCAA should be involved in the NC and Baylor cases. But in the PSU case, even if the False Narrative were true, it should not have been involved. In the NC case we have academic fraud to maintain the eligibility of athletes. In the Baylor case we have suppression of criminal activity also to maintain eligibility. In the PSU case, even if it were true, the criminal activity had nothing to do with any active member in the athletic community. Thank you BOT scoundrels.

Nor did it have anything to do with a scheme to illegally gain "advantage on the field of play" under the NCAA's clearly stated rules and bylaws - i.e., the "Contractual Agreements" between the NCAA and its Member Institutions (whereas the activities and schemes at both UNC and Baylor MOST DEFINITELY DID, just as you say).

Incorrect about UNC AND incorrect about Baylor. Nothing like becoming the same kind of people that bought the PSU narrative you despise so fervently!
