FC: Wayne Huizenga has died

http://money.cnn.com/2018/03/23/news/companies/huizenga-obituary/index.html

"He was the only entrepreneur to build three different Fortune 500 companies during his career -- Blockbuster video, Waste Management and AutoNation.

At one time, Huizenga had owned three sports teams where he lived in South Florida -- the Florida Marlins, the Florida Panthers and the Miami Dolphins."

R.I.P.

Was listening to NPR and can you believe there are still six Blockbuster locations in America? Four in Alaska (one just closed) and two in Oregon.

We use to boat past his place in Ft Lauderdale. Quite the pad and one of the sweetest yachts I've ever seen in South Florida.

When he first opened the Floridian (golf club) up in Stuart, it was a maximum of 4 groups a day - all invited guests of his. We had an open invitation as a co-worker's Dad was his attorney. One time we were late, and the staff went into panic mode because 2 groups were there at the same time. We told them we'd go off #10 and they calmed down and started breathing again.

Whatever you wanted (a sandwich, a beer, a shirt, a sweater, a putter, etc.) was all on him. There was no way to pay for anything.

Was on vacation in Maine some years back, and saw what was alleged to be Huzienga's yacht in the mid-coast area of Maine. Quite a vessel, and had a helicopter landing pad.

**edit to add this note from wiki:
In 2004, Huizenga purchased the private luxury yachtAussie Rules from the Australian professional golfer Greg Norman.[43] The yacht cost $77 million and was further modified by Huizenga to feature a helipad for a 12-seat helicopter. In August 2004, Power & Motoryacht ranked it as the 43rd-longest yacht in the world

The best was when Chris Cline (then dating Elin) commissioned his yacht to be exactly 1 foot longer than Tiger Woods'.
