Forecast is for mid 60s and no rain at gametime

I think this is a blowout win, on the order of 48-10

I think this game is going to be frustratingly closer than I’d like.

PSU 37
Illinois 20

Look ahead to OSU concerns me.
However, CJF penchant for padding McSorely stats and style points may cancel that out.
PSU 45-17.

Lions win on late comeback, 35-31. Board in meltdown mode afterward.

Not really, but I've had a feeling we may be a little off due to the Friday night thing with it being like a 9 p.m. kick. I'm thinking close through the first half then we open it up a little but not too much with a final somewhere around 38-14.

I kind of agree, the 27-29 point spread seems a bit much. IL should be a better team than they've been the last 2 seasons and where the game is played has to matter. PSU will have to self-motivate without their usual crowd to cheer them on (though hopefully the PSU alumni in Chicagoland will turn out)

i think you have the right call. the setting and context of this game in the schedule makes for a frustratingly closer game than the spread. 35-21 feels about right.

Illinois was very fortunate to beat Kent State. They are better than last year but that’s not saying much. I believe they played more freshmen than anyone else in the country last year. Losing Dudek again is sad for the kid and the program. Illinois does have two good kickers.

This will be a small, quiet crowd and the score will make it smaller and quieter.

PSU 63 - Illinois 16.

This was my prediction from another thread earlier today:

I was close-ish with 62-0 last week.

I'm thinking a little less Trace this week, and a little more Miles.
Miles runs for 2 (and >100 yards), Trace throws for 2 (and >250 yards): 1 to Juwan, 1 to Freirmuth. Hamler runs for 1 on another jet sweep that gives Ohio State lots to think about and sets up something else from that formation for us. The D gets 1. That's 6 TDs. 2 FGs gets us to 48.

Illinois has two early FGs and then scores in garbage time to get to 13.

48-13. Wait! Tommy can't help himself! He is moving us downfield in the 4th.... will he throw for one, or run for one?! Nah. He gets to the 15 with less than 10 seconds to play and the clock ticks down.
48-13.

I also said in a different thread that Illinois would hold a brief 6-3 lead in the early 2nd quarter. It will be 31-6 at the half, 48-6 midway through the 4th, and a 48-13 final.

Bring on the Buckeyes! (who will tromp Tulane by 63-10. Huh.)

You forgot to mention that Illinois is driving late in the 4th against our subs. 4th down and 3 on our 35. Some question about a bad spot and Franklin challenges. We win challenge and the game, 55-10.

I expected a win, but I thought it would be a much closer game. Illinois really ran out of gas. PSU depth is strong,
