I rewatched the first half. Here are my observations:
1. Michigan is much more athletic than Wisconsin - except at RB.
2. Wisconsin played a very good game, but, early in the game, Michigan mistakes basically gave the win to Wiscy. Mistakes included the first drive fumble, dumb penalties and DB's playing out of position.
3. Michigan completely sold out to stop the run. They couldn't.
4. If you play Wisconsin, it is important to get out in front early and make Wiscy throw the ball more.
5. Coan had a nice game, but he stares down his receivers. Michigan did not adjust to this.
6. Coan also lip syncs the plays as they are being flashed in to him.
7. Michigan OL is suspect. I think Wiscy's DL is nice, but not great. Yet Wiscy's DL stopped the Michigan run.
8. There is one thing UM is clearly superior at - hyper trash talking. It cost them penalties. (Note: the calls that went against Michigan would have never happened 20 years ago - especially with the Witvoet crew officiating).
9. Wiscy OL starts 1 SR, 2 JR, and 2 SO. One was a 4 star, two were 3 stars and two had no stars. I may be wrong, but I don't think they were penalized at all.
10. Wiscy's best WR was a 3 star who had only one Power 5 offer (Wiscy).
11. Wiscy scored two TDs in the 2nd quarter when Jonathan Taylor was out of the game with cramps. Michigan did not adjust to Taylor being out of the game.
12. RB Groshek and PR Dunn were walk ons.
13. LB Sanburn was a 4 star who had very few P5 offers.
This should have been a close game. Michigan mistakes led to a big Wiscy win.
Having said all that, I don't think Wiscy runs the table. They still have to play Iowa, MSU, @OSU, and @Nebraska.
Michigan is another story. Until they find a running game, they will be in trouble against MSU, ND, OSU, Iowa, and @PSU.
