Searched and didn't see this posted yet. Flo has been running an ongoing article unveiling their top 100 American wrestlers of all time in groups of 10. See it here (not presently paywalled): Flo Top 100. They listed their top 10 yesterday and I'm curious about the reaction of folks here. All worthy candidates, no doubt, though some of their pics for top 10 surprise me, along with the order. Perhaps some recency bias at play, which is always difficult to avoid with subjective exercises like this.

1. John Smith
2. Jordan Burroughs
3. Bruce Baumgartner
4. Helen Maroulis
5. Kyle Snyder
6. Cael Sanderson
7. Dan Gable
8. Kyle Dake
9. Adeline Gray
10. Lee Kemp

Should have ranked the women separately as the sport was in its infancy until relatively recently (and considering the fact that a large portion of the globe treats women like chattel property and hardly lets them leave the house - let alone play sports seriously)

They ranked Alli Ragan in the top 100 - really bro?

How could the ISU Cyclones have 2 guys on this list? Everyone knows the Hawkeyes invented and perfected wrestling.

Yeah,Snyder ahead of Cael?

Helen ahead of Addie??
Multiple world medals helps Snyder pass Cael, but Helen’s Oly Gold trumps Adeline’s 9. I guess there’s thread of logic to it. But its still weird. If Dake is ahead of Adeline, then College matters—but not with Cael I guess

I'm nothing of a wrestling historian, but if they're valuing sustained international success (as they probably should), it seems like Adeline should actually be higher.

As for Cael, the only wrestlers ranked above him are fellow Olympic Gold Medalists with 5+ world medals. Makes sense to me.

We all know that Cael is a big Flo fan especially for their rankings.

I'm wondering if I were Snyder would I call in sick for a couple of days.

Repetitive Ankle picks take their toll on the body.
It isn't the repetitive ankle picks as much as Cael might not ever let Snyder get off the mat.

Personaly, I think Adeline belongs in the top 4.

I was not aware that Kyle had 5+ unless you are counting age group Golds too, which I think they should be counted.

hard to refute except bonus point wins and team points scored at NCAAs seem to have been completely ignored in the analysis. I'd have to check again, but I don't think Dake is even in the top 10 in team points at NCAAs. I'm not putting him down, and I use him as but one example. I just think it should have been factored in to the rankings.

Bottom line for me: I like GOAT discussions quite a bit--but it's super hard when you mash up men and women, with college/folkstyle results, world championships results, and olypmic results; and it becomes a fool's errand completely when you add in Flo--who frankly lacks credibility after the reveal that they choose to elevate their friends and black-ball their perceived enemies in pursuit of the dollar.

Kyle Snyder has medaled at the Olympics/World Championships every year since 2015.

He has 3 golds, 3 silvers, and a bronze.
