Flo Videos from Illinois Dual

Also agreed. From the Flo video, I think Nolf had Martinez pinned during swipes -- ref did not check the shoulders until after the 4 swipes. (One of my pet peeves -- refs missing pins because they're too busy looking at something else.) Fortunately it didn't change the final result.

Zain needs to work on turning opponents toward the camera before pinning them.

Now that's funny.

Zain was clearly stalling on top

Yeah, it did look like he had the pin before the ref checked the pinning area. IMar really didn't move that much. It kind of shocked me -- as if he was stunned, or didn't have any idea what to do there not having much experience being on his back.

As you indicated, the possible slow call of the pin did not change the final result. In another match in the dual, I think it may have. When Rasheed locked up the cradle, I think he had Rodriguez pinned. Unfortunately for Rasheed/PSU, the ref was on the other side of the action -- something that is pretty typical when a cradle is locked and the defensive wrestler gets rolled backwards. Rodriguez did a nice job to break the cradle, so with the ref running to get into position Rasheed didn't hold Rodriguez in pin criteria long enough for the ref to see it.

In the refs defense, there are so many things going on that they are responsible to see. The pin of IMar came at the end of a scramble, where the ref is checking both guys for criteria for a TD, and also checking for PD on joints for both guys. Refs do try to anticipate when a pin may be possible and get into position to see it, but I don't fault the ref for not anticipating the end to that scramble.

Yeah, that was bizarre from IMar. He really didn't seem to fight much when he got on his back. Nolf even said that he felt IMar "stop wrestling" for a moment when he got the pin. Perhaps a combination of fatigue, frustration, and sheer disbelief from IMar?.. Whatever the case, it was very odd.

At the end of the scramble, when Nolf aborted the cradle attempt and with Martinez already on his back, Nolf's right knee landed pretty hard on Martinez' upper chest, on or near his left clavicle. And then Nolf's knee, along with much of his weight, migrated up and onto Martinez's neck and then his face. I wonder if this stunned Martinez or knocked the wind out of him, or made breathing difficult.

It wouldn't have been the first time in the match that Martinez was winded.

Ref was out of position for Rasheed too or he may have had the fall. Also Brunson started his shot before the whistle on that initial takedown

I thought so too, but it was close. Brunson did a nice job anticipating when the ref was going to blow the whistle. In any event, Bo was clearly caught off guard.

The guy is the gray sweat shirt several rows up and in the center dies on every pin. Definitely a downer day for him.

LOL...Is it the guy sitting next to the lady with the green hat? After watching the matches a dozen times or so his disappointment and shock do become noticeable and stand out. Funny stuff.

Love the way he holds his head in his lap after every pin. T he Noff one he couldn't believe it happened. By the third one I began to feel sorry for him.

Yea, I've never seen that pinning combination....J-Nolf had his right arm trapped with an arm-bar, his left arm trapped with his left leg up by the arm-pit and finally he was applying downward pressure with his right knee & shin in a "kneeling position" for maximum downward force (Nolf was kind of in a reverse "cross-body position" where his chest was where his knees might usually be and his knees where his chest might usually be). In any event, it appeared that I-Mar could not get his hands and elbows down to the mat to assist in leverage to get to a bridge of some sort. Also, given the "kneeling position" Jason's right leg was in on I-Mar's upper chest / shoulder / throat area, that knee and shin are going to generate a lot of downward pressure - the one angle does show that Jason's knee/shin does ride up dangerously close to I-Mar's throat/neck area. Had the Ref not been focused on the clavicles, probably could have been called "potentially dangerous" as it looked dangerously close to a "choke hold" - albeit inadvertent as Jason could not even see where his knee and shin were precisely in the position he was in.
