Good day and Go State!!!

I’ve heard plenty of horror stories of them loosing signals and streams. Have they cleared that up? I want to get in as much wrestling this season as I can, but I s it worth it??

Thanks fellas

Flo still has streaming issues. And it's usually during big events. I canceled a couple years ago and was glad I did. Usually you'll see people complaining about their stream crashing a couple times throughout the year.

I don't have any issues with flo unless I'm trying to stream 6 matches at once. Definitely worth it to me!

I'd start w/ BTN Plus--can do a sport-specific subscription for the season only, and get all B1G duals and the tourney. After that, a toss up between Rokfin (NLWC Content, Intermat, the new "national duals," as well as Journeyman Duals, Power PA....), and Flo (I'm assuming things like CKLV, Midlands, the Scuffle, other duals, special events, UWW/Team USA stuff, their produced films).

Both CKLV and Southern Scuffle are now showing on Flo's schedule. Apparently, all of Drexel's home duals as well, so there's your money's worth right there!

I bit the bullet and subscribed to Flo (after swearing I'd never give them $ again) after they bought Track Wrestling. To me, both for one price is worth it. Have watched a few Flo events since and have had no problems. I'm sure they will arise.

I'll do Rokfin and BTN+ during the season, most likely.

I have had FLO for years and also have Rokfin. I think they are both worth the money. As someone else stated.....I only have streaming issues when I open several windows at a time......otherwise it has been fine. Rokfin isn't perfect either. Someone needs to tell the announcers to speak into the mike.....or do a good sound check. But I think they are both clearly worth the money.

I never had any major issues with Flo streaming and loved Flo when they had the B1G matches but I canceled after they lost the B1G and got BTN+…. May do Flo on a monthly during the season..

Need some advice, I’ve found that anymore I pretty much read anything and everything wrestling related at night with the tv on. Hit me a couple days ago that I probably watch less than an hour of tv a week because I’m constantly on my phone on this board, HR or on Rokfin and a few other sites and don’t even watch the tv. It’s usually just on for the noise. Lol. My question, if I broke away from cable tv and dropped it, is there anything like a roku or fire stick that has the big ten app and espn (for nationals) installed on it. I don’t know anything about it so to me it’s not a dumb question. Lol. And before anyone asks, no I’m not gonna miss the NFL. To me, nothing in the sports world really matters anymore other than NCAA and PSU wrestling. :)

Edit, oh and I will still be keeping my cable internet and WiFi if that makes a difference on best way for me to go.

I did this a while back--use Roku for most things, including YoutubeTV seasonally so I can watch BTN telecasts, the olympics, etc. I don't believe you get to watch televised BTN events without a TV sub of some kind. Roku is nice though, I dig it. No Rokfin app yet, but you can "cast" to it, so that's pretty much the same.

Cable alone in my house is 180 bucks. It’s just me and my son here now. He hasn’t watched tv in 10 years so I’m pretty much forking out the money for nothing. I figured it would be best to get Rokfin, Flo and Big10 subscription for the year and drop the cable bill. My girlfriend stays 2 or 3 nights a week and she never watches anything other than YouTube and Prime on my tv.

Do it then! YoutubeTV is $65/mo and has a killer DVR setup--so if you do want to watch PSU vs. Iowa, etc, you can do that for a few months a year and still make out OK (I don't think you can pause a sub for more than 3 months, but you can always create a new account). There are other services you might consider too (Sling, etc).

Yeah, I’m gonna call them next few days and drop my cable. Thanks for the suggestions!

I’m looking at the list of YouTube TVs channels. I should have done this years ago. Lol. May be a stupid question, with the espn channels, are those live. I guess what I’m asking, when ncaas come on I’ll be able to watch them live or will I need to buy an add on subscription or something?

Yep--live on the screen(s) of your choosing--you might be a few seconds behind someone w/ cable TV for buffering, but that's it. You can also say "DVR all Wrestling, no matter what channel it's on" and it will do that.

To watch ESPN streaming mats in the early rounds, you'll just choose choose YoutubeTV as your TV provider in the ESPN app. One thing to note--I think only the Apple TV devices (not Roku) ESPN app lets you do split screen of multiple mats anymore.

I guess now my only question is…

Why the f*** didn’t you tell me this years ago??? Lol
Most likely, your cable company is going to try and disuade you financially from cutting the cord, so prepare yourself on that front. For myself--I walked into a Comcast retail store and said "Look, I don't want TV anymore, but I need more bandwidth, and I want to pay less." and they figured it out for me. MUCH better than their bengladesh call center....

I bought a new house 4 or 5 months ago and had to switch from Comcast to Atlantic Broadband. If you think Comcast is bad you should see AB. If I watched a lot of TV I’d be super pissed because it’s always going out or the boxes need rest or hit with a signal. Last time I talked to them I told them I’ll be getting rid of it soon as I figured out something so I have what I need to watch my wrestling. Lol. The girl on phone laughed and said “Your Wrestling?” I responded in my best Macho man Randy Savage voice “oh yeah” knowing she was thinking of that kinda wrestling not college wrestling. Lol

We have YouTube TV here as well, was paying over $250 for a shit ton of channels we never watched. Cut the cord and now have about 75 channels of what we like plus live local and National sports. B1G Ten was a must for me.

I tried both YouTubeTV and Hulu Live. Kept Hulu Live. It's about $80/month, but that includes a no ads (not really 0 ads) and 4k. 4k is extra with YouTube. Personally I didn't care for YTTVs interface, but Hulu's is not without fault either. Still cheaper than cable was. But then again, we have subs to Prime, Netflix, Peacock+ too

My suggestion is to do a trial with both YouTubeTV and Hulu Live assuming they both have all of the locals in your area. Both have free trials and you can get a feel for what you like better.

I've been cable free for six years now.

YoutubeTV > pretty much all streaming services for sports enthusiasts.

We share with the 4K upgrade and unlimited TVs. You are able to share with 5 people but reality is 3 max simultaneously.

My cable and internet was around $220/month now with unlimited 1Gbs/1Gbs and YTTV (My share) $120/month.

I record all NCAA football, wrestling, and volleyball.

I've tried every major service out there and so far it's not even close.
Hulu was a joke. Bad DVR, still ads after paying to watch your recorded shows. Clunky front end.
Sling had little sports coverage at the time of my trial.
Vue was bad all around.
DirectTV was only decent if you had DirectTV satellite also.
Philo had very little sports coverage also.
Fubo had sports but mostly Pro soccer and some Rugby.

Another nice thing about YouTubeTV is the “family sharing” feature. You can “share” your subscription with 5 others. Each person has their own login and cloud DVR. Only caveat is only three simultaneous streams are allowed.

We cut the cable 4 months ago. I was paying for cable at home, the cottage, and Naples. And let's face it, we can only be one place at a time. And the kids only watch Amazon+, Netflix, or HBO+. The only network TV they watch is the Bachelor, and they're smart enough to watch that other ways.
About $500/month in savings after streaming subscriptions. So stupid for years. Well, obviously still fairly stupid.

FYI there is a Rofkin app.. I had it last January but it did not work very well at the time. I sure by now they have improved it.

oh really? For Roku? Can't find one here. I have it on my phone/tablets though--and can cast to my roku from it, so it's effectively the same thing.

Question on B1G Ten+, if I subscribe to just Penn State for the $9.00 a month. That will give me all the matches that PS has against other Big Ten schools and other sports as well correct? I’m thinking on doing a monthly for the season, then ESPN takes over for nationals.

Ive gone the Hulu and YouTube Live route the pasted few years. Best decision you can make. I had Hulu 1st, but ultimately liked YTTV better. I have T-Mobile as my cell phone, so I get $10/month off YTTV plus free Netflix.

Unfortunately, the money I would have saved on tv has gone directly to wrestling subscriptions (Flo, Rokfin, BTN+). 🤫

Because of this thread I cut the cord completely on Monday. I bought a Roku but once I got home apparently Amazon and Roku are in some kinda pissing match so Amazon no longer has their apps on Roku which includes YouTube TV. I guess there are workarounds for that but I'm lazy so I returned the Riku for a Firestick. I love the YouTube TV. Even has the NFL network included which my local cable company provides at a cost. Also it does have my local TV channels. So glad I changed. I do have Rokfin account and will begin Big10 + subscription tonight. Already added the app to my Firestick. Thanks to all those who recommended making the change!

Hmm--that doesn't make much sense--I have Youtube TV (which is NOT Amazon) AND Amazon prime on my Roku.
