no questions involving PSU wrestlers, alums, etc.

For those keeping track, this is week 78, and despite promises he tweeted, no response to Flo's article about Olympic reffing corruption from Foley.

Mike C. must have got his Internet back, as he got 3 of the 7 questions.

You can access this week's Mailbag at THIS LINK

The response to a question about adding an 11th college weight class had me rolling my eyes:

"While I agree that a 215-225 pound weight class would make for compelling matchups and put the USA in better alignment with international freestyle, I think that any adjustment would have to come from the significant movement of all the weight classes. There is just no room for an 11th weight class at the NCAA level.

The only way you could convince me of an 11th weight would be to make the NCAA tournament a team-based dual meet event with only match scores to determine the winner. Do that and you'd have my vote."

The leap from Par 1 to Par 2 doesn't follow any forms of logic. Pretty remarkable from a guy that graduated from UVA and Columbia graduate school. But hey, overhaul the rather popular existing NCAA championships with a team-based dual meet, and T.R. will condescend to vote for an 11th weight class. I'm surprised he didn't throw in the insistence of changing from singlets to compression shorts to ensure his vote.

Feelings dont care about your facts and in this case certainly your logic.;)

He was hired to write, not be right.

Have to agree here Tom, his logic is illogical to me. Another weight class is an opportunity although possibly against tradition in his mind. I'll bet there were similar arguments made when the jump from eight to 10 weight classes was instituted. Add, take away, its still wrestling to me, lots of fun to observe and as PSU is now the player so much more fun for we alums and fans. Add an 11th weight class and add another scholarship allowing more young men to go to school and participate in the sport they love. What can be the downside of that?

That's his opening offer.

I'd bet he would quickly back down to the pushout rule, and eventually cave and settle for not having to face Zain.
