For a legacy recruit with good skills, we don't hear much about Colson Gatten.

His father, Aaron, was a hell of a high school athlete, a three-sport star. Colson seems to be made along the same lines. He plays all over the field, appears to have good closing speed, and is smart and instinctive as a LBer.

I wonder if Aaron had a positive experience at Penn State? I also wonder if Colson plans to follow Gompers to Duke?

Aaron's problem at Penn State was playing behind Lavar. When he got his chance his senior year, it seemed to take him about half the season to "get it." I thought he was doing really well once he finally got the experience. I wish he had gotten one more year to see how good he was.

Of course if Colson came to PSU, he might have to compete with Lavar III. Let's hope he chooses to take the challenge.

Aaron was recruited as a safety. They converted him to LBer. He was pretty damn fast in high school. I think he won PA state AA in the 100 meters. He was also a state champion wrestler, if memory serves me correctly. It seems to me that he was too an athlete to have to wait to play until his 5th year.

Especially when you cut weight for those 2 and bulk up for football. I assume there has to be an adjustment when you finally pick a weight and position for football.
