For all Clifford critics

Since he missed on four of his passes and had another one picked, there’s nothing for them to apologize for.

The only thing that would have made his performance better was a game winning drive. Instead, he kept us in the lead and didn't allow for such. Auburn was tough. Harsin is a good coach. However, if not for the refs, his team is probably down double digits and we would have taken apart Nix playing from 14+ behind.

Clifford
28/32
280 yards
2 TDs
Played a wise game.

I think this is just the beginning for Clifford. Yes, he is going to get even better. If the running game begins to gel Clifford will start picking defenses apart with the deep ball.

It's a long season.
It certainly is. However, this kid took some incredible criticism and if you can't appreciate a great performance and a big win "on the big stage" what kind of fan are you? How many BWI CAC members would have said I'll reserve criticism because it's a long season if Cliff completed about half his passes, turned the ball over 3 times and PSU lost? I think we both know the answer.

I think he clearly demonstrated tonight, why he had the edge over Will Levis and why the staff was not panicked about bringing in just any QB from the portal.

I agree that Clifford deserves a lot of credit. That was a memorable performance. It also helps when you have an OL that is actually protecting. This was the best OL pass protection we have seen at Penn State in a very long time.

Would not shock me if we have QBs trying to transfer in this off season. Yurcich has set Clifford up for success.

The refs and Brandon Smith’s hands of stone. Poor kid, at least he won’t beat himself up as badly as if PSU had lost. But I wouldn’t want to be him in the film room when they review the play.

Truly, I hope he returns next year. I'm sure he'll get a good grade, but he could be special with one more year.

Brooks was solid tonight and Jacobs is starting to improve his play.

28 of f’in 32.

Pls think twice about opening your pie hole the next time you want to pile on to this kid.

Also please tell me who has gone 28 of 32 in Beaver Stadium. Your answer is nobody.

Probably not a Penn State QB unless Collins did it. Lol

I'd be scared to look at some of those "average QB looks like Tom Brady" performances we've allowed.

Enough of that. We are winners tonight!!

He did play exceptionally well tonight.

Yurcich is the key to the improvements. And it’s not just coaching Clifford.

He changed the whole system. You don’t see 70% RPO plays. Hell, I don’t remember any! He runs a system that fits his players’ talents. Something we haven’t done since Trace graduated. And we didn’t even use Barkley correctly.

This system fits Clifford quite well. Allows him to see the field and react. But it doesn’t ask too much of him. Less running. Less quick reads on RPOs. It’s uses the receivers and backs well. Includes the TEs. So unpredictable. Not the same play run 30 times with options. It is also a much better tempo allowing momentum to seize the day. Not the goofy “prairie dog “ offense of the whole team staring at the sidelines. (Someone else used that prairie dog name .....don’t remember but a great name).

I think that Levis would have been a good fit in this offense. Levis is not a quick running, quick cutting QB that the RPO requires. But in this O he would excel just as Clifford is doing.

Clifford had a great game tonight and kudos to the offensive line for giving him plenty of time to throw. I’m glad the Tight Ends were effective this game, but the running game is still a mess. The only criticism I have about Clifford tonight is that he needs to be more of a leader and tell Yurcich that running the Tyler Warren trick play a second time was predictable and probable of failure.

Coaches coach and players play. Clifford doesn't tell MY or CJF what to do. LOL

Smith made a great read on the play but gotta catch that one.

He’s gotta be smarter on his sideline roughing although Nix took a dive on that play, you just gotta be smarter and not give an official ANY opportunity to make that call.
