For all Clifford critics

Changing your soap-box narrative I see.

Nice!
Nope not at all. If you happened to be a poster who stated that PSU couldn't win the Big Ten with Cliff at QB, IMO, you were dead wrong. If PSU isn't in the Big Ten race till the end.....I'll bet it isn't Clifford that's the problem.

Point taken.

We're good.

I just like to mix it up once and a while marshall.

All the best to you sir.

Agreed. But, what took place on many posts here before the season wasn't in the realm of "second guessing." Some were plainly stating that PSU couldn't succeed with Clifford at QB. Stating that his play needed to improve over last year or that at least "we" need the version of SC that PSU saw in 2019 are all fair assessments.
If we are being honest, where are the guys who screamed for CJF to bring in every QB in the portal?
Fair enough. Carry on, my friend.

Let me give an example. Like anyone watching a game I can "not like" some things that the coaching staff decides to do. 1. I would not have gone for the 1st down in the first series. No need, with the crowd noise, punt them deep and let them try to snap the ball ....pin them deep or perhaps turn the ball over. Instead we ran into the teeth of their strength (remember last year when everyone declared you can't stop the QB under center sneak?
2. I also did not like the fake punt call....Auburn was lined up with #s inside and it should have been kicked. All fakes usually have a call to negate them at the LOS.
3. The reverse attempt to Dotson on 3 and 2 or three that blew up....never try a reverse when the other team is expecting short yardage and is penetrating.
The difference is.....I'm not going to perpetuate a 4 day thread trying to prove that these decisions were incorrect....I just wouldn't have chosen to do those things.
The same with criticism of SC....it just got incessant and over the top. Did he need to improve over last year? Absolutely! Was he ever 88 out of 130? Never!

I'll go as high as 53 but that's it.

I don’t think I could go broke listening to an old football coach who has over-the-top passion.

And the criticisms come after we k of the result. Everyone loved the wildcat play call to the TE, but if it wouldn’t have worked it would have been second guessed by some on this board as trying trick plays when we should be able to line up under center and punch it in.

I loved it the first time....I'm not sure what they were trying the second time?

I'll defend the coaches if their decisions are "defendable." The old saying was, depends on who has the chalk last." Meaning when it comes to strategy, "there are is more than one way to skin a cat."
Can't tell you however, during a game like last night, how many times I scream....why are you doing that?
But I can tell you it isn't easy being on the sidelines and making decisions with 2 or 3 K watching.
I can't imagine with millions on TV and 110k in the house, how intense the moments must be. I think everyone needs to understand and appreciate that.

Let it go..... you've made your point. Does someone have to give you ice cream to make you feel better?

The only thing that would have made his performance better was a game winning drive. Instead, he kept us in the lead and didn't allow for such. Auburn was tough. Harsin is a good coach. However, if not for the refs, his team is probably down double digits and we would have taken apart Nix playing from 14+ behind.

Clifford
28/32
280 yards
2 TDs
Played a wise game.

LOL. Funny how fans give game winning drives more credit than a QB who had the answer every time the opposing team got close. Usually there is a reason you have to resort to a game winning drive and it is typically not a good one.

His stat line with a game winning drive or his stat without a game winning drive, which one is remembered more?

I agree with your sentiment completely. I'm just saying, we talk about Kerry Collins game winner vs Illinois a lot more than any other QB performance. Winning late gets the glory.

However, I'd gladly take 28/32 and defense shutting the opponent down every week.
