According to his website, his Preseason Mag is not released until July 1 - see link to his site below:

BTW, the front-page of his website includes a countdown of his top 20 teams....the last posted team was #16 with #15 pending. In a bit of a surprise, Steele has PSU picked as a top 20 team (#19) - not only that, but he says PSU will probably be favored in 9 or possibly 10 of their 12 games and is one of the nations best preseason "win total" bets (the current Vegas line for PSU's "win total" is 7 as in 7-5. IOW, Steele is saying that PSU is one of the most attractive bets to exceed that win total - e.g., 8+ wins).

Steele's magazine is a great read.

Just about the only pub on the market devoid of hype and hyperbole.

I just picked up this yrs mag on Fri. Must have been an early release in Wisconsin. I won't spoil anything but will say that he gives us a pretty decent chance at success this yr.

I agree that we could be favored in 9-10 games. The problem is that we will be heavy underdogs in 2 games but only slight favorites in several others. Last year we won 2 close games (UCF, BC) with late FGs but this year we don't have Ficken. Last year we lost 2 close games because of fumbled kickoffs and questionable play calling (MD, ILL). We've got to win all of those games (+ Michigan) if we hope to go 10-2 this year.

I think 8 wins is more likely. 7 would be disappointing.

I would guess that Steele projects us to have more than 8 wins in the regular season if he is projecting us #19 final ranking -- that sounds more like a 10-3 season including our bowl game.... IMO, this would either suggest a 9-3 regular season and a bowl win in a respectable, but not spectacular, NYD Bowl game OR a 10-2 regular season with a loss in a very good, pretty high-profile NYD Bowl game. If we go 8-4 in the regular season, we will not be ranked going into bowl season, we will go to a very nondescript, completely meaningless bowl against a lesser opponent.....and we won't be ranked even if we win that bowl and end up 9-4.

So again, I would suggest that Steele's projection likely has us doing better than your call IMHO.
