Historic match outside at the FB stadium between two legendary programs, with deep National Championship records.

If you have BTN2Go, it's free access.

Need your cable provider user name and password.

I believe it may be free for those who have the BTN on their cable subscription.

Enjoy!

Very wild match. Won't give it away for those who want to watch the match.

Some very unusual things happen.

BTW - This match will be replayed tomorrow night, Sunday at 7 PM on the BTN.
Check local listings for the time.

Tease.

Okay, since the match is over,
Marstellar had an early flurry to go up 6-1. But he was totally gassed. They said he cut weight to get to this level, but has never done that before. Seems he may have just run out of energy.

Lots of points being scored, as Marstellar was basically trying to just stall and hang on until the end. At the end of high scoring match, Chance was one stall point from being disqualified, as the match came to an end.

Chance won the match, but the huge Iowa Football stadium audience was enflamed throughout the match, calling for stall calls.

Announced attendance - 42,247. Largest crowd to watch a college wrestling match.

PSU wrestling had set the record last year at 16,000 at the BJC.

Perhaps Cael will consider a Beaver Stadium event, while it's still over 100,000?

Developing...

That looks like a pretty cool event and is made better by the fact the football team is playing at home tonight. If you're an Iowa sports fan today is like the Super Bowl and Christmas on the same day. Tailgate. Watch wrestling. Tailgate some more. Watch football. Fortunately for them the weather cooperated.

#4 Crutchmeyer OKSt vs #3 Meyer IA is another great match.

New rules are coming into play, as wrestlers seem to be forgetting the fine lines regarding the new stall call rules.

Iowa complaining about stalls... priceless.

New era for college wrestling, with the new rule changes.

Now a near fall (turning the opponent's back toward the mat for 5 seconds), scores 4 points for the wrestler. So, it encourages more high scoring matches, because 4 points are a lot of points during a match. Wrestlers are more likely to try to turn their opponents, instead of just getting riding time. It should make for more exciting wrestling matches.

The sad part is that this has come after David Taylor and Ed Ruth are no longer college wrestlers.

Both were incredible point scoring machines. If they had had 4 points for a near fall, they would have racked up even more huge scores for the Nittany Lions and perhaps even improved on PSU's dual match win record.

This new near fall 4 point rule change favors the "Pennsylvania" high scoring offense wrestling style over the "Iowa" low score defensive style. Cael Sanderson was the master at scoring lots of bonus points and that's how the Nittany Lions approach their matches. Lock Haven wasn't a big test for the Nits, but if it's any indication, this year's Penn State team is bursting with high bonus point scoring potential.

Will be a fun year watching Penn State and BT wrestling.
