I am being dragged kicking and screaming into the modern, mobile world...and I do mean kicking and screaming.
I just got my first thingamajig.. a Galaxy tablet
I had to line up several useless items beside my desk, so I could take out my frustration by smashing them instead of smashing the tablet.
One must know oneself.

Do I need to download an app to access this site properly?
Do I need to reconfigure the site somehow?

Any pointers will be appreciated.

A website can identify the type of device from which you're accessing it (e.g., browser, app, tablet, etc.), and make the choice to offer (or simply foist on you) a mobile alternative, if it chooses to offer one even. I don't think the Rivals sites offer a mobile/tablet alternative, because I think I'd have noticed by now on my phone.

Also, the mobile/tablet version of some websites lack the full functionality of the regular version. Even when available (for some sites, again, not this one), I'll often revert to the non-mobile version.

One word of advice, be very hesitant to install apps for websites. Many major websites also offer a separate app. However, it has been my experience that most of them offer little to no advantage over just accessing the site via a web browser.
