Awesome to see. Also is handing out the posters around town.
Franklin really gets it.
Nice. The Penguins do that every year in Pittsburgh and it creates a ton of goodwill. I've never heard of it at the college level, but if it has, I'm sure someone will let us know.Awesome to see. Also is handing out the posters around town.
"In the library encouraging debate and dialogue." When was the last time you were in the library? It isn't exactly set up for debating. A bit of a stretch. If he did, he'd be in the library encouraging academic debate and dialogue. Encouraging students to get involved.
I've never put anyone on ignore, but I understand how this could have been the straw that broke the camel's back. That's the last straw Felli. Congrats on being the very first since the new format to make "ignore". Enough.

Yeah, so?!? My point is that if Franklin "got it", he'd be out and about meeting students and encouraging them to stay in school; set an example. Sure, have fun at football games, but be responsible. Take academics seriously.
What's wrong with that?

Why??? Sad reality is there are way too many kids in college that really don't belong. They are only in college because everyone tells them this is what you have to do to get ahead. If you haven't figured it out college is for smart kids. To many marginal kids are getting into college racking up student debt and finding out that coming out with a 2.5 GPA in some fluff major does you no good in the real world.

Good to hear because I like to joust with the young and energetic. What took you so long?? As soon as they offered this option, Felli and CR66 were my first clicks. Life is good.
That was very funny.Good to hear because I like to joust with the young and energetic.
Well then, that places him in good company. You have become 'Humanistic '66.

I wish I could pass judgement here, but I'm young and lethargic (too many trips to Primanti's and Otto's last semester, I put on the first-semester-senior-seventeen)You wouldn't know young and energetic if it bit you in the ass. The young and energetic hate people like you.

Were you one of those students?
I jest, but it was humorous given the content of the rest of the post.
Do you have to work at being a tool or does it just come naturally? If he did, he'd be in the library encouraging academic debate and dialogue. Encouraging students to get involved.

Irony is a poster who comes off as one of the least educated on the board, preaching about academics.

I don't get it. Someone points out that our Head Football Coach is doing meaningless tasks that anyone can do. We're paying this guy millions of dollars? And then someone else points out that he could be spending that time getting others to better themselves academically, and the guy gets blasted. How is handing out tickets and posters better than using your status on the university to encourage others to become better people? And even if all of those students are already the greatest students they can be, isn't his next job to win us championships? How is his campaigning (or, as I see it, "begging") for fans going to win us championships?
Look, I'm all in on Franklin. The guy is absolutely the right coach for us (since Joe cannot be here). But I gotta say that I don't like this. But this doesn't bother me as much as the reaction to a different opinion by the people on this board.

Because it was an invented issue in a steroid driven mind. Maybe you haven't heard Franklin talk about academics, but he has. I believe last spring they had the highest GPA ever at PSU or something like that. He has consistently talked about being #1 on and off the field. So instead of making up issues with Franklin, why not wait until real issues come up? Asking for support is a part of his job as there is a reason why most in the BT say HV is the hardest place to play in. A HC interacting with the fans in the middle of the summer...oh the horror of it all. I know, I know, Joe would never do that.
