Franklin on ESPN at 9:45

when asked about playing other conferences, said he has a responsibility to his players and their parents to explore every option available to them.

mentioned having "B1G weekends" at the "dome" locations (Indy, Detroit, Minneapolis) if they delay the season

man........ if you don't think we're LUCKY to have this guy leading our program.... FULL of pragmatism and common sense

anyone else notice all the pictures behind him were of his kids with his players?

What I heard him say was that his responsibilities are to his players (and their families) to achieve their dreams and that he will work to that end, exploring all possibilities.

I liked how he floated the idea of using the domes in Detroit, Indy and Minnie. I hadn't heard that idea before.

Brought up interesting point of possibly playing in B1G country domes if we play Spring season. Having weekends in Indianapolis, Detroit, etc. where teams gather to play.

EDIT: as the two posters before said seconds before I posted the same

He is such a calculated professional....I love it. What was on his computer was planned. His pictures in the background were planned.....the guy does nothing without it being planned.

So lucky to have this guy.

So while I appreciate his dedication to his young men, and not that I have a whole lot of respect for Barron, there is this thing called chain of command. If Barron says no with the other Presidents, wouldn't that be the end of it until/if Barron "changes his mind"?

Reporter should have asked him he if the school admin would support alternative games. And/or if he even discussed this with school admin.

Easy to say he wants to play. But without support from the admin.....it just ain’t gonna happen. And this admin would never support it so don’t get yer hopes up.

this is a tough situation. the B1G commissioner is taking the lead from the university presidents right? and it sure seems like the football programs at a lot of these universities have different opinions than the presidents right?

i'd love to see this lead to super conferences, but with that seeming chasm between the programs and universities, i don't know if that's feasible

Mushmouth is on ESPN now and found Scott Frost’s comments “offensive” about playing elsewhere if the B1G cancels the season (therefore, he find CJF’s comments offensive).
So now I know that Frost and CJF must be right.
How can you tell what Mushmouf said? Is ESPiN finally sub-titling him?

great for him he can sit back and just complain about everybody else trying to make really hard decisions that will affect millions of people for the rest of their lives.

James was talking about unanswered questions he is getting from players and their parents. He's being asked if 5th year seniors retain another year of eligibility if the season is cancelled? What about incoming freshman eligibility? Mushmouth commenting on Franklin stated that good leadership would already have answers to these questions. Oh really Dummy Desmond, I think those answers will be in the NCAA's wheel house to answer not PS University. His disdain for everything PSU can't be hidden!

I think he was speaking about B1G leadership as well as NCAA, not about Franklin with those particular comments. He was pretty fair from that perspective.

Love CJF and his passion, but alot of what is being said by him and Frost are in heat of the moment. I get they have to stick up for their players, but if a school votes on cancelling, they can't play, that is pretty obvious. So we will see where this is in a few days if the B1G cancels. Something tells me there ill be a different tone.

what you are describing is better known as a 'yes' man. If JFF and other coaches and AD's think the presidents are out for themselves, then it is 100% within their purview to speak up.

yeah...wonder how much is positioning and recruiting. I would imagine it is a different tone internally.

Yep, he knows that if the B1G cancels then it is over, end of story. No way the school admin would support playing outside the conference.
Franklin is saying all this to keep the team together and have their support. By fighting for them, they will fight for him. Also helps to have the fans on his side. It is all posturing.

Well, maybe so.

But it is nice to see the other side of the argument about playing the season.

yeah....and the contractual commitments. I'd have to believe a "season" outside the B1G would simply be a handful of "friendlies".

This could be the straw that breaks the college sports system's back. Treating players as "non-essential" when they help pay for your whole athletic department might not to be wise.

good point....no loyalty to the players, no loyalty to the school

No one can understand them. They are running them through Watson, the supercomputer, to see if it can translate them into corresponding English words. No luck yet.
Only one man can translate with even a remotely accurate translation....

I disagree. Frost might be an 'in the heat of the moment" type person (I dont' know enough about him to say other wise) but Franklin doesn't normally fly by the seat of his pants. He's pretty methodical in everything he does. As he has a child with an auto-immune issue so he's probably more up on this than 90% of the people. I don't think there is much that Franklin does that is by accident or irrational.
