After seeing the recently released depth chart last week it was obvious that the extremely dysfunctional OL play from last year was going to carry over to this year since it wasn't any different from last year, sans Smith, who was replaced by a JUCO who was playing his first game at this level. Franklin had eight months to evaluate the players on the OL as well as the abilities of his assistant coaches to put these kids in a position to be successful. Perhaps these coaches should spend more time in the film room and on the practice field and less time on social media and the barbecue grill. Franklin very well may be flustered at todays performance but he only needs to look in the mirror and around his coaches meeting room. Temple's staff flat out outcoached the Penn State staff today in every facet of the game. They had a good game plan in place that allowed their kids to be successful which can't be said for Penn State. Did Hackenberg ever roll out on a designed play to give himself more time and to put pressure on the edge while moving away from the rush? I'm not talking about being chased out, but along the lines of a designed play. Did Donovan ever make it up to the press box so he could see the field better or did he get lost along the way or did he realize he was in over his head and kept walking which is why Franklin looked flustered. Speaking of flustered, there appeared to be a lot of players who were either flustered, lost or confused on both sides of the ball. THAT is on all the coaches.
