Fresno State

Can you guys keep us posted on what happens?

I know that Clovis HS is well represented in the FS line-up tonight so there is no big surprise at the size of the crowd.

The scoreboard doesn't show the team score and the announcer hasn't mentioned it. ?? But I started watching at 141 and Fresno State won 149 and 157. Imar by tech fall and Ill. 174 got a pin but not sure what happened at 125 and 133.

Illinois wins 197 4-3 ........A.J Nevills gives up 2 takedowns in the first period but comes back with a takedown with 13 seconds left to win 7-5. Needless to say....the place went nuts. Good for the Nevills family. BTW....A.J. looked very good athletically.....tall....trim.......solid heavyweight. He has clearly waved goodbye to 197 :)

I watched a number of the matches... especially 149 & 157... that crowd was terrific... hope that fan base keeps coming out and supporting the team as they grow... that would be a great environment for a PSU west coast visit some time in the future, don't you think?

It would be an excellent match to help grow wrestling in the area, also great for the west coast guys from PSU (Nevills (Nick, Seth), RBY) to be able to wrestle in front of their fans. Hwt match would be interesting if it's happens in the next 3 years :)

Only 700 miles from Tucson to Fresno...

That's the plan...not much of a secret either. Still, scheduling is always a challenge.

The benefits are significant:
-- Wrestle teams that we don't normally wrestle, help grow wrestling through duals
-- Follow-through on any stated hopes during recruiting of our wrestlers
-- Helps with recruiting nationally
-- Family/friends get to see "the local guy" in action, then off the mat too

One more benefit Roar...
-- The local diaspora of PSU alumni and alumnae get to see their Nittany Lions!! ;)

You realize, I hope, that AJ Nevills is their brother. They are a very close family and I'm not sure how they would feel about competing against each other. I'm sure the wrestling fans would like to see it happen, but it could create an uncomfortable situation.
