Fun thread - historical events you want to go to

On a personal historical note

I would like to go back to April 14, 1999 the day before my father died. I woukd stop what I was doing and take his call. He had called and I was too busy with the job to call him back.

He died the next day and I never called him back I always felt s big empty spot because of that

I wouldn't change anything else but I would have just talked to him for a few minutes.

I always wish I could go back and watch my dad play baseball and basketball in high school (or college or in the minors). He was quite an athlete.

The 1980 US hockey game vs Russia of course.

NC game against Miami.

The 1950's and see Elvis live. I would also like to go back and see many of the rock and roll road shows from the 50's.

I feel you. I would like to spend just one more day with either my dad or my brother.

Damn man, that sucks. Though if you had the kind of relationship with him that's left you with that feeling after all these years, you undoubtedly gave his life more joy than you can imagine.

Did you catch the American Experience episode on the Little Big Horn? It featured Nathaniel Philbrick. It was fantastic because it contextualized the event and yet the whole thing was haunting. I have been to many battle fields and this one was by far the "darkest"...Arrogance, hubris, genocide, greed. A fascinating event.

Custer's wife was a knock out. I had never seen her prior to looking at that vid.

Michael Jordan's house when he was advised of his suspension from the NBA.
Book depository in Dallas on 11/22/63.
Front row seat on DB Cooper's flight.

Interesting thread.
If I could actually be at the event, rather than just having lived through it, I would be on the Moon when Neil Armstrong took those 1st steps in 1969. I'd also be at the top of the world when Edmund Hillary climbed Mt. Everest in 1953. Finally, I would like to have been at the marriage of my parents.
I was on the moon a couple of times in 1969 but most of my memory of it has been blottered out.o_O

One person Good call?

I'd like to have a super observation spot (in the sky?) for the Battle of Midway, the decisive naval battle in 1942 that changed the war in the Pacific.

To be with Abe Lincoln on July 4, 1863, when the news came to him about the near simultaneous victories in Gettysburg and Vicksburg.

To be with President Jefferson when Lewis and Clark returned with their stories and findings of their remarkable journey (and since, we're mixing in technology time travel, to see their videos, too:))
Re: Front row seat at the Battle of Midway. How about with George Gay in the water? That must have been an amazing scene.
