Football GAME THREAD: Penn State vs. Rutgers

You have to be kidding, right? Are you watching the game? First ten games, OL goes backwards on every running play. Now, they move forward. Q.E.D
yeah it looked fairly similar to be honest, got some push sometimes and sometimes not

sometimes rb's made a good cut, sometimes not, sometimes got hit at or behind the line

Turns out we had the wrong backup qb this season. Christian beats iowa no problem.
That was a completely different situation but I agree he would have given us a better chance. We beat Illinois going away with Veilleux. Heck, we might have even beat them with Roberson. Franklin was crazy starting a kid that was hurt that bad.

This game was more fun to watch than a lot of some the previous games this season.
Now on to root for Maryland. Fear the turtle, beat the Wolverine.

Where has Caziah Holmes been all year! Kid is quick and runs hard, something we have been lacking since Journey Brown. And, he was running with the 2nd/3rd string OL!!!

I’m late to today’s party, but as the guy screaming to play CV for the 4th quarter in Iowa, looking smart now.

Definitely should have been #2.

Given what we saw today, we can only hope Franklin has decided to stop being so loyal to players who are not getting the job done. New OL for sure.

Too similar to Lee and Cain. Redshirt.

Guys, let's not go overboard.

We played well today, and I'm really happy about the last week:

  • Franklin comes firm against leaving. Hope he learned a lesson. We are with you, if you are ALL IN.
  • Some of the younger guys looked pretty good.
  • We have a quarterback who can at least be a serviceable backup.
We need to remember it is Rutgers that we dominated. After a slow start, but nonetheless.....

How would these guys have faired against Michigan and OSU - starters acquitted themselves reasonably those two games.

Anyway, at least there is progress on the culture thing (franklin not going anywhere).

One thing I need to remind myself of when I remind myself of Rutgers.

Remind yourself of Villanova. We certainly didn't dominate them.

Saying this because maybe some of the guys who played today, against lesser competition, really are quite good.

Well said...especially the part about not going overboard. This is Rutgers after all. That offense was arguably the worst we've played all year. Including Villanova.

Still, there was lots to like...after we finally woke up in the 2nd qtr and dominated the rest of the game.

The D is great and has held up all year. In fact, it's done enough to win every game.

The spark today was Vellieux. I mean, let's face it, things turned after he came in the game.

Next week should be interesting. On the road against a good team that just saw their championship hopes get blown away.

Really wonder who'll be the starting QB. Sean has never been the same after the injury at Iowa, which is a shame. This season will go down under the heading of what-might-have-been.

If Clifford and Mustipher were healthy we might still be undefeated (even with a bad OL). We definitely beat Iowa and Illinois. We only lost to Michigan by 4 and to OSU by 9.

If my aunt had balls....

Quite literally, PSU is a handful of plays from being undefeated. A massive waive of critical injuries (which started in pre-season practice where we lost a starting DL for the season) didn't help.

Well, I suppose you can say that, but there play, in general, supports a record pretty close to what we have.

Quicker and runs harder, redshirt or not. Look at the kid for Wisky, 17 yo and destroying defenses with his quickness and power running.
I thought Lee looked better than Holmes last year. I assume Holmes is taking a redshirt.

Really? "Their" play was extremely respectable against OSU, Michigan and Iowa (under the circumstances). Worst loss was ILL obviously and they lost by 2 in nine overtimes.

I thought the exact same thing. Doesn't look nearly as stiff as those other guys. Looked more athletic.

A little late to the game I know ;)
