I'm with NoVa, and actually deeply appreciate Michigan Wrestling. I do distinguish, tho: Harbaugh's a weirdo who hasn't placed better than 3rd in his own division, and mgoblog is the most obnoxious thing the internet ever built. Thanks, Brian Cook!
But Michigan Wrestling is pretty cool. The Silver Fox is a likeable dude, as is Sean Bormet. The state has pretty awesome HS wrestling, which is likely to get even more solid in the next couple years, as the (Nick) Simmons Academy of Wrestling (SAW--a killer name for a wrestling club) gets crackin. According to his interview on Bloodround, he & his dad & brothers are opening it, Taylor Massa is lined up to help coach. He said between all the coaches they have lined up, they have 11 Michigan HS state championships.
Also, I have trouble thinking of many UM wrestlers who have been annoying or unlikable. The Churellas, Steve Luke & Kellan Russell were great champions (maybe Russell's close matches were a tad annoying, but he's a good dude). They had a dude in 1942 named Manly Johnson, who placed 2nd and a dude in 1957 named Max Pearson, and those are all cool names. The legendary Harold Nichols was their second champion, in 1939.
More recently, Grajales & Pantaleo are kinda meh, but I loved Brian Murphy & Conor Youtsey (who's about to do work at Pitt with Gavin), and next year's lineup is gonna be studly. Coon, Abounader & Micic are all huge hammers.
In general, perhaps because the fan community is so much smaller and the disconnect between fans & affletes is smaller, I tend to leave my Football Hate on the back burner when I put my Wrestling Fan Hat on.
