Great bottom line for the Iowa game.

IMO, Ferentz had a great gameplan that was badly executed. He did trickery which he tried to use to set up variations of more trickeration. He/they found some colossal mistakes in our defensive scheme that should easily have led to more points. But when your QB is as off as Stanley was... oh well.

But imo this was the first glimse of a D beginning to gel (another poster mentioned this already). I liked how the violence level was ramped up. We brought a lot more emotion to the osu game but here we seemed to have a better idea how to go after the other team.

Gonna need all of it next weekend. Pretty nice seeing G-M and Parsons as our top 2 tacklers. And with Sutherland and Nick Scott laying the wood and Taylor and amani doing their very high level thing... I'm liking the future even more.

We find a way to get our receivers to hang onto the ball and we really could run the table.

BTW... it bothers me when the receivers are called out for "drops" on balls thrown behind them on crossing patterns. Yeah, sometimes a great catch can be made, but most receivers in CFB and the pros don't.. they'd going too fast in one direction to adjust to a ball behind their backs. Now that everyone knows we have dropsie issues, I hear announcers harp on a missed catch that is the QB's fault, not theirs. OK, rant over lol.

When they went for the fake FG, they moved out of FG formation and into a traditional offensive formation, didn't they? I know it was our ST out there (and they looked confused), but I can't see how the D gets a pass on this. We have 10 guys within five yards of the LOS and that fatty beats us.

The fatty beats us because we had no idea they'd shifted and thus left him uncovered and eligible as a receiver. Even though coach says they were told all week to look for it. I have no doubt that is true. That's what coaches do. This team, however, is very undisciplined. Who's to blame is really a chicken and egg thing. But other teams take notice and Frerentz had a ton of good plays called to combat it. It's the LBers. They are great athletes but not great LBers. We are out of position constantly, in no man's land, can't play in space, and don't know who to cover.
BTW, did you notice when Shareff Miller jumped offsides he got made at Parsons for tapping him twice. What's up with that? And then Taylor chews him out for leaving his man uncovered. Great athletes that need to learn the finer points of LB play.

Is that a hint of optimism in your response? There is no place for that on this Board ! ;)

Would have been a perfect spot to use a time out.

I did see other guys jumping on Parsons --- you don't see that very often, especially from a PSU team. Not sure what that is about but everyone needs to realize that he is the team's leading tackler. So yell if you must . . .
