Hackenberg preparing for the Draft

I think he might actually be QBing the Cardinals right now.

Kidding, kidding. But watching Palmer, no feel for the game...same thing I have said about #14. Hope he proves me wrong.

Hopefully, he works on being more patient throwing a screen pass and delivers it at less than 100 mph.

Do you realize that posting such stupid stuff illustrates how little you know about the game of football?

Talk about a lack of a sense of humor. I coach football and a good bit of ribbing goes a long way in player development. Nothing like getting a player to laugh when they make a mistake once the game is over. I love to rib my son when he throws what I call a worm burner into the ground at the receiver's feet.

Time will tell...make no mistake, I wish the kid well, I am beyond grateful for his time at PSU, but I along with likely 25+ GM's don't think he will make it in the NFL.

As to how much I know about football, I suspect I know far more than the majority on this board, though I am wise enough to temper that with a dash of humility. Something that would be wise for anyone on a message board.

So now I am confused. Are you saying that your post was in jest and a use of humor to help Hack to laugh at his mistakes? Uhhhmmmm, no. I am sick of people on here saying Hack is just average and will struggle in the pros without understanding how badly the cards were stacked against him.

I think most if not all GMs see a young man that had a tremendous freshman year and then struggled when he had a OC that had a scheme that didn't fit Hack's skill set or adapt to the strengths and weaknesses of the entire offense. He also had an inexperienced O-line with a couple of kids that were out of their natural positions of D-line, wideouts that were inexperienced and often ran the wrong routes, TEs that were either not healthy (Brenneman) or played below expectations, and RBs that couldn't pick up a blitz. They see a disorganized O that often got plays in way too late and limited his option options. They see kids that were often out of position pre-snap and distracted Hack from reading the D because he was constantly lining up his own guys. They see a guy that was probably hit more than any other drop back QB than any other in history. They see a guy that has all the skills needed to excel but might take some time to develop.

Hack will go in the second round unless Billy O doesn't want to risk losing him and grabs him late in the first. He will develop quickly and be a star in the NFL in three or four years unless he gets stuck behind a Luck or Newton. Then he will have to wait until free agency and go where there is opportunity.

I could see him going to a team that has an older QB that will be gone in a couple years like the Patriots, Steelers, Cardinals, Broncos. Don't expect him to start right off the bat but wouldn't be surprised if he did.

One caveat; I just hope he doesn't get shafted by the Browns, where all good QBs and coaches go to die.

I'd love to see him with a good organization to start. Maybe his play cost him an early 1st round spot where he'd make a lot of money right away and gets him drafted where he can make a lot of money down the road because he can learn his craft and play with elite established talent. I think he'll knock it out of the park at the combine and impress every coach or general manager he talks to. He could be a great face of any organization.
