Hackenburg Evaluation

NFL.com is saying third round to the Redskins....which I believe would make him their #3 qb behind Cousins and McCoy. Sounds good to me: He needs to sit and watch the game for two years and recover his senses from that beating he took for two straight years.

And Gruden is a bit of a QB guru isn't he? Might be a good short term fit given Washington seems to be invested in Cousins for the long term.

I believe some of the teams you are calling cupcakes are equal to us in talent and experience. Don't forget that our 2 most senior recruiting classes ranked, if my memory serves me right, somewhere in the forties. A lot of fans overestimate our talent level.

True. The same clowns make the same lame predictions every year. He probably had PSU going 10-2 last year. He had PSU beating every team worse, every team equal and one of the teams with more talent.

At TOS, EVERY SINGLE BOARD MODERATOR had Penn State going 9-3, with the exception of Rob Riva, who had 8-4.

Every one of them, including Scott Cole, who had them at 10-2.

I think it's just what the doctor ordered: Spend two years, healing up, re-learning the game, getting your footwork back to normal, getting your mechanics back to normal, and THEN either moving up to a starting spot somewhere, or getting promoted to #2.

News flash,

Joe passed away, God rest his soul. You need to come to grips with that.

Furthermore, Joe had plenty of teams that had anemic offenses, and the offensive coaching staff that ended with Joe's firing had a couple of guys that had no business coaching at the D1 level.

And I certainly respected Joe.
Who said about coming to grips with it? I respected Joe and I am just making a point. Over Joe's tenure, we played a bend but don't break defense and did not give up big plays. I watched last night's draft and every highlight of Ohio State's players that were drafted showed them scorching someone from Penn State.

And they were all wrong. Maybe we should make the guys that predicted 7-6 the new moderators.

Not according to them....According to them, the predictions never happened. They all deny making such predictions, even though they are a matter of public record on the net for all the world to see.

Temple just went 10-4. Yes, they are Temple, but you can't argue with coming off a good season like that. Don't think you can call them a "cupcake".
Temple was a team loaded with seniors last year. That won't be the case this year. You can't have it both ways. Excuse the Temple loss because it was a team of seniors one year. Then turn around and make a different argument the next. The bottom line is they will be a young team too. Our worst recruiting class is better than their best.

Still don't think they will be a "cupcake". Like Iowa, right?

I believe I corrected myself regarding Iowa. I think they will a good test. If Temple is tough this year, it will be because of good coaching. Something I'm hoping we will have too.

Huh?

Dude, you can't even spell Hackenberg's name correctly after 3 years. That's how observant you are. You're embarrassing.
My bad on that. Nothing to do with being observant! Just fat fingered a key. If I am embarrassing you, I don't really care. I never bash the kids, they all putting out an effort. I believe there were a few coaches last year that way below parr.

Although the 1999 season should be a separate thread, it was disaster. The team was undefeated and heading to what might have been national championship contention, and then lost 3 games in November -- and in all 3 games, they had the lead in the 4th quarter! The defense had the #1 and #2 picks in the entire NFL draft (and didn't Macklin go in the 1st round too?) and they couldn't hold on to 3 straight 4th quarter leads?
One of those leads was over Tom Brady's Michigan team. Brady led two late TD drives in the 4th qtr to win, a forebearer of things to come. I followed Brady that whole year, and I just knew he'd be a great Pro.
