HAPPY NEW YEAR - BOSA EJECTED FOR TARGETING!

Ridiculous. He hit the guy in the chest. He never launched himself at the quarterback. Football is being pussified, much like the rest of society.

You're full of $hit and don't know what you're talking about! "Spearing" - intentionally using the crown of your helmet as a weapon and to inflict punishment has ALWAYS BEEN ILLEGAL! It was ILLEGAL when I played 30 years ago - not just illegal but a Personal Foul and considered a scumbag "cheap shot" move by anybody who considered playing the game by the rules important.

You are beyond full of $hit if you don't think that was "spearing" and illegal.....and always has been illegal !!

What a moronic post. Thank you for making the earth a dumber planet.
You're allowing your hate for Ahia State to color your judgment. Millen and Clark would have been tossed lots of times for what Bosa did.

You really are one angry person, Beast of the East, BODE, Get Real, BushwoodCC, and the moniker you use now.
Spearing has always been a penalty where a player is on the ground and the other players deliberately slams him with the top of his helmet. Bosa was rushing the passer and hit him in the chest.

Again, you're full of $hit and don't know what you're talking about regarding the rules - SPEARING, dropping the crown of your helmet to drive it into your opponent (e.g., intentional use of your helmet as a weapon to attempt to inflict punishment) is, AND ALWAYS HAS BEEN, ILLEGAL. You are absolutely full of $hit that it was EVER legal to SPEAR like that. Again, you're WRONG, WRONG, WRONG regarding your claim that this hit was legal now or EVER legal for that matter so why don't you stop keep telling us how right you are fool.

Blah, blah, blah. Same schtick, new moniker. Back on IGNORE you go.

The hit has NEVER BEEN LEGAL, so you're notion that anything has been "pussified" is about as brilliant as your analysis of the legality of the hit. What a freaking moron - rather than keep your mouth shut, you feel the need to prove what an idiot you are on a topic that you don't even know $hit about which you speak. Interesting! Says a lot about precisely "who you are".

EPC although I agree it was not a launch or injury causing hit, it is still the rule. The rule is to protect both players. Watch videos on players who become paralyzed due to hits with the crown of the head. It is the same type of hit Bosa had and could have resulted in him being severely injured. For the safety of the players, and he broke the rule.

What he did has always been referred to as "Spearing" until they wrapped Spearing into the more general "Targeting" rule they have developed over the last several years. "Spearing" has always been illegal and, not just illegal, but a "major infraction" PERSONAL FOUL (e.g., in the old days you were ejected for three such violations). "Spearing" has ALWAYS been considered a "dirty play" performed only by "cheap shot" artists - pretty much on par with "head hunting", "clothes lining", etc... Anybody who doesn't think that hit was illegal and a "cheap shot" dirty-play has clearly never played football, because you're own teammates would get pissed-off if you did it in my day - because "cheap shotting" tends to beget indiscriminate retaliatory cheap shots where your teammates could get hurt.

BTW dope, being on the ground has doodley squat to do with the "Spearing Rule" as it has always been written. There is only one requirement for "Spearing" dip$hit - INTENTIONAL use of the crown of your helmet in an effort to use your helmet as a weapon to inflict unnecessary punishment on your opponent. That's why it is a PERSONAL FOUL idiot and is, and always has been, considered a dirty-play "cheap shot" - because it is UNNECESSARY and has nothing to do with tackling or the game of football in any way.

technically it was the right call, but compared to many hits by Bosa (non-called), this was nothing. check several non-called hits on Hack.

refs want to balance loss of ND LB.

Like it or not, it's a much different game than when Millen and Clark played. Even then, it was an illegal spearing.
