Harbaugh's D: Slow and weak.

Very slow. I don't know if Harbaugh can recruit enough speed before his patience wears out and he jumps back.

Harbaugh is an odd duck. He sounds spaced out in TV interviews, but he looks calm and in total control on the sidelines. Maybe because he's an odd duck, I like him.

I have trouble trusting someone commenting about football who said Big Ben was washed up early on last year but yeah their D is going to still suck. Of course if your football predictions hold par this might be their best defense since Bo.

Remember the year we saw the NW QB's mom after almost every play? Well, she was in the Witness Protection Program compared to how many views we're gonna get of Harbaugh tonight!

Averaging more than one per minute of playing time midway through the first quarter!

Wanny must came in and have made them run faster during that Michigan possession. They looked quick there.

Three possessions, played better each possession, only given up a FG. Michigan has to be very very happy at this point. Very very happy.

They are going to have to step it up.

This is without question a b1g Turd crew -- I've already seen several obvious calls on scUM go uncalled. On 3rd down of Utah's possession before scUM's current possession, a Utah receiver was literally tackled in the secondary long before the ball was thrown - the ball was not thrown to this receiver (thrown to a guy close to him but towards the sideline), but that doesn't matter as the guy was tackled right after the ball was thrown and while ball was in air. It was beyond obvious - no flag. They also called an ultra-chippy Personal Foul penalty on Utah and then ignored intentional spearing by a scUM defender on Utah's next possession....

I have honestly never seen a guy watch a football game and watch the officials as much as you.

Michigan's offensive line still looks atrocious. They've been working on that for, what -- like, 3 or 4 years, now? Just goes to show that there's no quick fix. Keeping my expectations in check for PSU.

Weak? Booker has about 2 yards on about 10 carries. They don't look weak to me. Utah has moved the ball by spreading UM out. They havent gone anywhete by running the ball at the UM defense.

D must be playing faster. Holding their own and controlling line of scrimmage.

Slow AND weak. Just watch, at least until UM begins to pay the oxygen debt from playing at 4500+'

First half assessment.

UM defense looks very very good. Their offense was very conservative. Maybe a weak OL like last year but the play calling was very conservative. Their kicking game looked OK.

Utah has a lot of team speed. Their offense came when they spread UM defense out. They stalled when they got conservative with bad field position.

The difference was the 2 INTS and missing a wide open WR for a TD.

Harbaugh's offense looks like an old Joe Paterno offense.

I think UM gives up 2-3 more TDs. I see no evidence that UM scores more than 1-2.

I think the quality of WR recruits is way down for Michigan. Not sure how good their running game is, Utah seems to have a pretty good run defense.

The best thing is I'm not seen a recruit we were in with and wish we had.

It's a PAC-12 crew.

Booker and the 6'7" QB have been running thru and by the UM D. Look out, skunkbear, here it comes.

Tight end just dragged that strong Defensive back down the field. 18-26 for the QB.

Booker has only 40 yds on 17 carries and Utah has only 10 pts. I don't think the problem tonight is Michigan's D....so far, anyway.

UM D looks solid (thx to Mattison, who will soon retire), but Peppers might be a bit overrated. Decent player like DWill, but not exactly the electrifying game-changer that he was promised to be.

bdgan, yes, u could probably say Hairball's offense looks a little bit like Joe's in the dark years when we had absolutely nothing to work with. The QB Rudock was more effective at Iowa.

Michigan could still win this game, but so far I haven't seen a single dang thing that makes Harbaugh look like an upgrade over Hoke The Joke.

UM D-line has been in for TWO plays and they all have hands on hips, panting like racehorses. Get those boys some Oxygen!

They are going to have to step it up.
I wondered how long it would take the Utes to figure out the only way they can stop themselves is by running up the middle. The DL is decent but the LBs and secondary are deadly slow.

UM's talent is at its nadir. Harbaugh has done a decent coaching job with what little they have. Except for their lame QB, they didn't make as many mistakes as they did in most games last year and they kept it closer than warranted. Utah beat them last year by 16 at UM.

UM looked pretty good to me. Their OL is improved, their DL is stout, Bolden is a very good LB, and Peppers played great. Their TE looked pretty good too. I didn't see much from their WRs. They won the stats tonight but the turnovers killed them.
