PSU Men's Hockey has clinched NCAA Bid, according to pairwise: College Hockey News
Considering where this team was back in January, it's a sporting miracle that this team qualified for a tournament that only has sixteen teams. They still drive me crazy with all of the turnovers that they commit in their own end, and the program still needs a big talent upgrade, but I commend them for what they've done since February.

Psu’s game is not pretty to watch in a structural sense, but their speed (and continuous use of it) brings a lot of chaos that is difficult for teams to deal with.
Because there only are sixteen teams in the Tournament, there are very few, if any, easy games unlike in the basketball tournament. Therefore, for PSU to have played the game that they did last night against a team that won Hockey East was just a tremendous performance. They easily could’ve won that game by five or six goals if not for Maine’s goalie. I actually was most impressed with how the defensemen transitioned the puck from their own zone in the second and third periods, which hadn’t been a strength.

It would mean a lot for this group to make it to the Frozen Four. How incredible would it be for them to win another National Championship for this school in this academic year? Hopefully, Fink can break out of his slump.

It also was nice to hear that the Pens Elite program got a mention last night for their contribution to this PSU team.

Big time win last night as an underdog against a great team that won the Hockey East conference championship. Tomorrow vs UCONN will be our best chance to make the frozen 4. We were underdogs against DU in 2017 and against Michigan in 2023, and both of those teams were very good, but we should be favored against UCONN. I really like our chances if we play with the same intensity as we did last night. With that being said, it will be tough to replicate that performance twice. Hoping for the best tomorrow….

And not just a win.. but a 5-1 “
Dominant” win !

THIS!!

Also, Penn State consistently beat Maine to the puck and was the faster team. Maine was really physical but the Lions didn't let it slow them down.

I don’t really follow the team closely but did start following more when the season was winding down. The impression I got was that they might be able to make a run if the goalie got hot, but last night was really dominant. Outside of a a little flurry early in the 3rd, Maine never really threatened. And as others pointed out, we had some great scoring chances that could have made it a real blowout.

There’s a real “1st Infantry” mentality (danger forward) to the system.

2-2 after three. Ot coming
UConn just is the bigger, more physically dominant team; PSU can’t do anything in the corners against them and haven’t been able to get odd man breaks.

Our Russian goalie was unbelievable. And former UConn player. We'll be big underdogs against BU, but who knows. We're playing with house money in the Frozen Four!
Regardless of what happens its a great season. Anything can happen in these single elimination tournaments. Sergeev will need to be special again...no reason to think he can't be
