The game boiled down to two things in my estimation:
1. Justin Fields played an unbelievable game. He bailed OSU out several times by extending plays with his feet. And his 2 touchdown passes were absolute NFL level throws. I've heard coaches say that you can't defend a perfect pass. So tip your hats to Justin Fields. He was really, really good.
2. The OSU defensive line was too much for the PSU offensive line. Not that there's shame in that. I think the OSU defensive line is probably too much for ANY offensive line in college football today, which is why I favor them to win the national title now.
If either of those 2 things were missing, it might be a different outcome. As it was, we had a chance. Yeah, I know OSU helped with turnovers, but the PSU defense forced those turnovers. Other than being able to contain Justin Fields, I thought the defense played pretty well overall.
I'm not going to criticize play calling or anything of the sort. It was a line of scrimmage game and OSU was better there. So the answer for Penn State is to get better on the line of scrimmage. We're better than most teams there, but we need to get to OSU level there and then we'll get over the top.
Not many here were predicting 10 - 2 and that's where we are with a split vs OSU and Michigan. Not bad at all.
We'll take Rutgers down and then get a fine bowl game. I'm very cool with that.
I have only one question? Is Limegrover the guy to make the o-line elite? I honestly don't have an opinion on it. It's just a question.
