Help....Hotels on Gameday

huh! kinda toward. it is all but the opposite direction by about 40 miles.
That would be Clearfield.

The point was, however, that if you want a reasonably cheap place not too far from State College, there are lots of options in Altoona. It's about a half-hour difference.

I've also stayed in Huntington before, which is pretty much due south. But there can be issues in finding a place during PA's "fifth season" (i.e., Deer Season).

Half hour difference at 10am on a Tuesday. That could be 2 hours on a gameday, the first hour would be getting onto 99.

Um, if you are staying overnight after the game, which is what the OP stated he wanted....that's not an issue the next day. Gameday, it's at worse no more of an issue than getting onto 322 home to Reading on game night--and getting through Potter's Mill and over Seven Mountains.

I've been stuck in parking lot traffic before--after the tOSU game in 2005, we were not able to move until after 3-3:30 am.

I get my most of my info from https://www.lioncountrylodging.com/ where you can look at the football reservation .pdf of several hotels including Super 8 and Nittany Budget Motel. For Days Inn OSU it is currently $1,082.84, MSU and Wisky are $1,039.44 and Kent State is $757.34 - all sold out.
The rates quoted for the OSU game are for 2 nights and include the taxes - still high but a bit more sane.

The OP also said that he wants to party after the game and not have to worry about driving to a hotel. So driving 30 min to Altoona would defeat the purpose - unless he wants to take an uber at midnight and again the the morning back to his car in the lots.

Good luck with that. Even in State College you have to drive a little bit for most hotels. I think the only ones you can walk to are the Atherton, Days Inn, and the Nittany Lion Inn, The Imperial 400 at Atherton and College was torn down a while back and replaced by apartments.

And that's pretty much what I said several times earlier in this thread.

OP is looking for a single night stay in town after a night game for a reasonable price to sleep off the booze and then drive home in the morning. People recommended the Ramada since that's where the visiting team stays - but that's still north of $350 for sat night only.

I've no clue on the campgrounds or renting a house but they seem intriguing if you can uber/walk to them and back. Failing those options I'd recommend - as someone else said - blankets and sleep in the car till the AM - go to the creamery for coffee and hit the road.

Even though it is a total shit hole, the Imperial 400 is still there is was not torn down. I doubt you could get a room there because I believe the bed bugs and roaches get first chance.

Or drug dealers according to articles I saw--I thought it was gone as there is major new construction right next to it.

You can walk to the Hilton or the Hyatt. You could also catch a CATA bus from downtown to pretty much every other hotel around town (and if you're a senior citizen, the bus is free :) ).
