Competition. Let's face it, other than Barkley, maybe Gesicki, and maybe Marcus Allen there is real competition at every single position for playing time. Even McSorley has Stevens breathing down his neck should he falter. At all the other positions, who can afford to have a bad week and still get plenty of PT?

Not the WRs...there are a LOT of great WRs waiting to get on the field. Not the OLine...there is intense competition going on there. Not the DLine or the DBacks or LBs. I think that the players will understand that they have their spot on a "week to week" basis only, and every game they have to PERFORM in order to keep that spot. It's like professional golf...if you don't perform this week, you don't get paid.

This, IMO, is what will keep the players motivated on every snap of every game. If they falter they know someone is ready to take their spot away, unlike the sanction years and the few years after the sanctions were lifted. Those days of no depth and no competition are gone forever, and the way Franklin recruits the era of "compete every day every rep every play" is here to stay.
