Hey Dem, what say you after today's disgraceful display

Thanks Tony.

As it applies to Mr. Lubrano, I am not suggesting that he be given a lifetime pass, but I do believe we should hear the reasons for his actions directly from him. If an explanation is not forthcoming, or is unsatisfactory, I may change my opinion of the man, but given his track record, I think there is more here than meets the eye. We shall see.

Exactamundo FG

In these situations there is always more than meets the eye. I once sat on a board of 43 and had to pull an item (off a consent agenda no less) only to lose the vote 1-42

Please do not think that just because the vote was unanimous that they arent working for the cause

It's very shortsighted for folks to look at that vote on the surface and start jumping ship

Fact is we do not know what was discussed in executive session but AL indicated those issues were discussed and addressed

It is also very obvious to me that, although we aren't privy to those discussions, we can expect some sort of public actions by which to judge them going forward

If this is all we have to hang our hats on, we're truly down to grasping at straws. When we see a 34-0 vote complete with compliments directed Lubert's way by the alumni trustee side, I think the writing is clearly on the wall. For those calling for patience, I have to ask what that has achieved to date. It's time to move on. Not move on with, but move on out of here. No way to spin this one.

This^^^ They have officially thrown away any ability to complain and be heard about all that's been done in the past four and a half years. Each of their votes is about a lot more than just electing a chairman...it shows the media and the public who you think is the right choice. It's not about trying to beat them, it's about appearance and image and the A9 just gave away their right to make anyone hear what's really going on.

Exactly. So how can they now complain about Lubert, his committee handing out free money without doing even basic due diligence on claims, his prior actions, his connections to the Second Mile, etc? All the old guard BoT members have to say now is 'hey, the A9 voted for him'.

Kind of hard to complain about Lubert's lack of fiduciary responsibility after you just unanimously voted for him as chair of the BoT.

I think we want the A9 to practice some vocal hellraising. Anthony has been the most visible, and has probably, unwittingly, set himself up for the most criticism. He does have a tendency to bait us into thinking something good is right around the corner. And, we've all been frustrated that nothing happens to reward our faith.

I, personally, wonder about Jubelirer. Here is a guy who should have the sustained political clout and media influence to further the cause. I believe he was elected because of those perceived attributes. But, he's done absolutely nothing. Maybe that is the answer: once a politician, always a politician.

My guess is Anthony wanted to do the right thing - and I do have some empathy for him, and respect for past actions - - - but - for whatever reasons - he allowed himself to be part of this .........and it is an INEXCUSABLE failure and betrayal

It is what it is

Btw Dem - thanks for taking the time to chime in with your thoughts. Truly
Rush to judgment much? How about holding Lubrano to the same standard that you (and I, and everyone else on this board) wants Joe to be held to; which is to say that facts, context, reasons, etc. matter. Get over yourself.

Better to fight a battle you can win than to fight and be slaughtered.Anthony has the knowledge and experience to know when to make hay and when to lay back. I trust he knows what he is doing.
What is the consequence of voting your conscience and voting against the Exec. Committee...........No Danish for you! The A9 are.................

LOL...."rush to judgement"? Cute.

"I expect a lot of folks think the reactions of many - including myself - is a "knee-jerk" response. It is anything but.

This has been a slow-drip for years.

Scoundrels - of all sorts - depend upon us having short memories. Usually, their hopes are realized - after all, we all have busy lives and dozens of issues to face every day.

But, fortunately, we don't always "forget"

This pathway to Ira Lubert's coronation didn't start yesterday, or last week, or last month.....it started years ago
And the guy who first started paddling the boat that sold our soul downstream was Ryan McCombie......yes, one of "our guys"
I expect most of us have forgotten, but it was McCombie who nominated Lubert into the "man in waiting position" as the Vice Chair.

A few of us - far too few - raised the issue at the time......but from THAT moment, the die was cast.

We fought with tenacity to try to abort that catastrophe - but we started too late, and we didn't include ALL of the traitors in our efforts.

If today is going to be a day of "mea culpas", let me add my name to the list......
I should have been more outspoken at the time

Like many, I erroneously felt we could overcome the disingenuous elements within our representation - without confronting it - - - - without being divisive. I was wrong.

Thus far, the A9 have shown an incredible LACK of ability to learn from their mistakes.
We ALL need to learn from our mistakes....especially all of us.

If we swallow up this most recent round of BS excuses.....we end up with the governance we deserve.
That is a certainty."

I agree. It's time to fish or cut bait. Jubelirer needs to start raising hell with his legislature contacts to change the charter and the rest of them need to start being vocal. If they are going to bitch on Facebook and Internet boards but then go out and do things like unanimously supporting Lubert then it's a complete waste of time.
