Hippenhammer knows Bo?

Question - considering his schollie is for what he does on the gridiron, what will Mac be doing when spring practice starts? Playing CF or pushing for a starting slot receiver position?

Multitasking Mac.... Will do both! As well as be a great student.

The baseball team is in California, heading to Arizona and will be there through Saturday, and looks like back to SC Sunday. He'll have very limited time to make an impact on the gridiron this spring. Maybe he can work his way up the depth chart in August.

Not sure how this is any different than Mike Reid taking a spring off to be part of a musical on campus.

Checking the team stats, I had forgotten that one of my old buddy's son is a freshman on the team. Played 2 games and batting 1.000 (3 for 3)

I think that its great that Hipp is playing baseball. That being said, this isn't the Mike Reid era. Football is a year round activity. It may limit his advancement in football, to a degree, but if he's a player, he'll still get on the field in a manner that he can contribute.

I have no doubts you’re correct, and perhaps my question should be more general than specifically about MH. I’m just wondering what happens when a scholarship athlete for one team has a scheduling conflict with the 2nd sport. Which sport takes the precedence?

Baseball takes precedence. He's not going to miss a game just to take part in spring practice.

This is an agreement among Rob Cooper and James Franklin and Mac Hippenhammer. It may well have been worked out during Hippenhammer's recruiting process. Hippenhammer is on a football scholarship; it makes no difference how little he plays for the football team or how much he plays for the baseball team. I have no idea what the details of the arrangement are, i.e., to what degree, if any, Hippenhammer participates in football spring practice.
