Hard to say he's whining given that he just shot a 67. Have to say I agree with Horschel - bad greens neutralize good approach shots and putting. The speed of the greens is not the primary issue - it is the INCONSISTENCY and bumpiness of the greens. You take greens that are super fast such as a place like Oakmont, but this only promotes great putting and rewards great shots because they roll "pure" and on a "true" line. Great putters LOVE playing on super-fast pure greens because it is an advantage.
Horschel's main point is true - crap greens simply turn great shots and great putts into pars from birdies and tap-ins from one-putts (and vice versa, average putts into tap-ins, etc...). Horschel hit the ball much better than a 67 today.
