House Money

Ehhh--so, this was what we were expected to do
If ND beats Georgia we're also expected to beat them....after that--it's house money
We will be a slight underdog to each.

The playoff is the playoff even if you lose your conference championship game, sneak in, and get killed like SMU did. But, making the semis definitely makes the playoff experience feel more “official” after knocking on the door of the 4-team playoff for almost a decade.

We're ranked and seeded higher so regardless it's a game we're expected to win IMO. Maybe they'll be slight favorites but I think we'd be -2 against ND

Very happy with our run--when the bracket came up we knew we had to win 2 games or we'd be attacked hard core by the media given our draw--we took care of business--still more to take care of

Psu is in the top 4 and you are still looking for things to complain about.

I'm not complaining at all. I think we win the next game over either team. Just saying we're seeded higher than ND. It's not house money. House money was Boise playing is tonight.

This is both the most infuriating and most endearing PSU team since 1995! We should have won this game by 28+ points and instead find a way to let Boise State back into the game. Allar will make boneheaded plays and NFL throws in the same game. The defense will masterfully handle the best player in college football and also have a few complete breakdowns vs a nobody qb. We are so dysfunctional at times and still fight our way to win after win. I love this team. 😀

No its not. The next round is either an ND team that lost to northern illinois or a UGA team with their backup QB in a season where the SEC is getting pantsed.

We have an all world tight end. A qb that can make all the throws. Two great running backs and a fantastic defense. The time is now, f the idea of house money.

So I took the troll off ignore just to prove a point: the troll loado is ON RECORD as saying Franklin needed ONE PLAYOFF WIN in order for the season to be a success...

TWO PLAYOFF WINS LATER the troll Loado is WALKING IT BACK to say we need ANOTHER win for it to be a success.

Folks, this is game, set, and match in case you needed anything more in the two years that this hater had polluted the board.

Lando is still upset there isn't a 24 team play off and those two power houses Alabama and South Carolina got there asses kicked. Strength of Schedule my ass.

The season is a success because we've done what we needed to do--that doesn't mean it's house money right now
Expectations change as the year goes on...we have a great chance to win this because of the schedule
I will say no logical person expected 2 playoff wins to be SMU/Boise but kudos--great season but it can be a special season.

Upset? I'm thrilled we got the draw we got--there should be a 24 team playoff in which we'd have been the 4 seed.
Or a 12 team playoff--in which we got the 4 seed without SMU and others wasting a spot

The aww shucks, just happy to be here crowd is new to PSU. PSU historically played and won games like the next round. What is Franklin getting paid millions for? To beat up on a program 1 year removed from the AAC and a Mountain West team? He is expected to beat the NDs and GAs some of the time. Certainly not 2% of the time.

You never know if or when you will get back in this spot. Got to win when you have the chance.

For the record, does anyone think Texas or Georgia or Oregon or Ohio State or ND is going to be content with a final 4 finish if they win today then lose? Being a top-tier team in the Big Ten/SEC (or ND) has different standards. If we already beat, let's say, Bama and ND, then the outlook would be different but we beat 2 teams we were expected to dominate

We have done what we needed to do. Now it's House money.
We've done enough to quiet those who thought we only got a 1st round home game because of our weak schedule. After all our best win was vs Illinois.

We just beat #12 SMU & #8 Boise so I think everybody now believes our #5 ranking is legit. Now the question is if we can compete with the top 4. One more win means we're top 2. A loss could kick us back to #5. The Orange Bowl will be a big step up in class. I hope Carter will be able to play.

Watching Loado walk it back is almost worth taking his lame ass off ignore. Almost 😂
You're not making sense--I know you rely solely on spin
Also, having someone on ignore (allegedly) but them still being your primary focus isn't meaningful--kind of like a bowl game

You won't let it go about SMU taking a spot, AND you want to expand the field. Bama embarrassed themselves for the 3rd time as a double digit favorite. USCe got beat by that powerhouse Illinois. Texas limped by ASU. you aren't making much sense.

In a bowl game--have I ever cared about a non-playoff bowl game? Even for a second?
But now you think I'm going to pretend they matter
Who cares what happens in a meaningless bowl game? Teams that are left out of the playoff usually do the worst in bowl games because it's not where they want to be
All you care about is the record--so Notre Dame should never play anyone outside the MAC go 12-0 or 11-1 and take the home game because who cares who you beat?
Stop trying to start a fight when you're using "bowl games"--next you'll talk about NFL pre-season games or spring training.

No. A week or so from now you won't call it a success unless we win the next round.

If we play Georgia we absolutely don't have to beat them for it to be a success
If we play Notre Dame we should beat them and it would be a huge disappointment while continuing the narrative that Franklin can't beat comparable or better teams BUT being in the semis is still a success. That doesn't mean it's all "house money" from here.
If we get ND and Texas, we have a great chance to win the title. Basically if we can avoid Ohio State (go Texas) we have a great chance.

I'm not sure you care about any game bowl or otherwise. You would have the computers generate at the season beginning the the top 12 or 16 or 24 SoS. That would be your playoffs. you have already said a loss to a good team is more valuable than a win against an average team.

We have done what we needed to do. Now it's House money.

Agreed. Lots of pressure to win the first two playoff games...and we did. Though I'm still mystified by the play-calling last night but never mind that for now.

As it is, this has been a great season. Top-5 ranking. 13 wins to include the two playoff games. Made it to the CCG. One of four teams still playing into the 2nd week of January. We all would have taken that in a heartbeat in August but very few thought it was possible.

That said, let's not sell ourselves short next week, whether the opponent ends up being Notre Dame or Georgia. I'm thinking that all things being equal, we'll be a very slight underdog...in the range of 2 points. However, if we're at full strength, I honestly think we can and will beat either of those teams.

One way or another, it's a lot of fun to get into early January and still be looking forward to football games. I think our destiny is a date with the Buckeyes on January 20 for the whole enchilada.

I've spoken about it non-stop
SOS isn't stand alone--it's not the best 3 schedules. It's a combination of the two
Going 11-1 and playing a schedule outside the top 50 doesn't prove you're decent
9-3 with a top 10 schedule is far more impressive
Too many people here are stuck in the past when the goal was to run the table. It's why there's an overreaction when we lose. Oregon ran the table for nothing because they lost today. The best thing that happened to Ohio State was losing to Michigan. Like the best think that happened to us was being competitive but losing to Oregon.
Stop thinking it's the 80s. Look at March Madness. This has to be the same. Thankfully, only the Big Ten, SEC and ND matter so it will be fixed and you'll be confused...apparently
Stop hating the SEC and accept that the SEC, Big Ten and ND are the only teams that will win a title moving forward. Maybe ND. The rest are wasting spots.

SMU was #10.

Actually.. I’m still baffled by the overall play calling.. why.. why in the world we did not continue focusing on the run was just mind boggling.. now.. on the other hand.. if the master plan is ultimately to get our WR’s more active for this playoff run.., than I get it.. because they have def been playing their best over these last couple of games…

The home teams won all week 1 games and away has won the three week 2 games. Thus, it seems ND should win tomorrow, which would leave the 5, 6, 7 & 8 seeds. If this trend continues with a ND win, we have to hope for a break in the trend next week because I am just about certain that OSU will destroy Texas.

To be fair--all the favorites won today--so Georgia should win
Upsets are going to be rare
