Had an interesting discussion last night with some buddies about a Friday night game. They were surprised by how much they enjoyed the Friday night game last year against Illinois. They said they love being the only real game on tv that whole day, all eye balls on us without any other distractions which helps with all the writers who do AP voting. I thought that point was one I had never considered before. There’s no way for an AP voter to say oh I didn’t watch the game because there were so many other games on. They also liked that coming off a bye week the team gets an extra day for rest heading into next week. And finally they loved waking up on Saturday morning and being able to just hang out all day.
My argument against them was college football plays on Saturday. Recruits are busy at their own games and don’t get to watch us. Fans have to take off work to go to the game. Shortened week for prep.
Would love to hear your thoughts and arguments for or against and if you’re less apprehensive to it this year after going through it last year and possibly enjoying it.
