How do you think today's match impacts Jimmy's psychology going into B1Gs?

I think it has to be a huge boost and would imagine the coaches will tell him - "hey, jimmy, you won that match today at least two different times -- you pinned the returning National Champ in the 2nd and you pinned him again in the 3rd.....he knows it and you know it regardless of the nonsensical non-calls by the official".

Jimmy has to be going into B1Gs with a lot of confidence - he just took out Heil in back-to-back periods regardless of absurdity of Haggerty (the first time Jimmy had him flat in the 2nd Haggerty was still standing on his feet inexplicablly! I think the other official must have been yelling to him, because eventually he got down and looked after Jimmy was stacking him forever the first time and Jimmy got him flat again, but Haggerty still didn't call it at the end of the 2nd! It was really ridiculous when he didn't call it a 3rd time for the final 20 to 30 seconds of the 3rd period.).

I was thinking after that match if we would have yelled " GET YOUR COUNT "....I bet a lot of money that the ref would have least starting back points but more important Hail would have got very nervous and just gave up the 2 and Jimmy wins the match...I have heard it done in the past and it works every time. Especially when you say " That's it " after yelling GET YOUR COUNT "...We need to remember this because Jimmy gets in this position many times against top 10 guys...Yes Jimmy is right there to win a National Championship....Needs to move his feet and set up his angles better overall looked very good....

Not that it would ever happen but I think Haggerty should issue a public apology to Jimmy, along with his resignation. I agree with you that it should give Jimmy confidence going into the post season, he's been on a roll of late, and today's match should only help him going forward.

I see absolutely no reason to have the other one there and I certainly don't see why the NCAA wants to be paying one let alone two officials that can't make a proper call. I'm to the point the wrestlers could just call their own matches by the honor system and do a better job. Much like you call your own fouls during a pickup basketball games....

I've been saying this for a month now, on more than 4 or 5 different threads. Jimmy can beat anyone and that includes Ashnault.

more I watch the match, it did appear he could have easily got his two in the 3rd as it looked like he had his arm free to come down and xface.... looked like he easily could have had his head by Heil's leg... Looks like he just liked the odds of a getting a pin.

This doesn't work EVERY time. Some wrestlers tune everything out and have no idea what is being said matside. I was that sort of athlete. I rarely heard crowd noise or even what coaches were instructing unless there was a stop in the action. There are others that are in tune with anything and everything going on with them, their opponent and even those sitting in the bleachers. If I were to guess, Jason Nolf is that sort of athlete. Being able to think about everything around him.....looking 3 and 4 moves ahead and playing out things before they even happen. I think it's a real gift to be able to do this.
