It is presently in an on line auction (Clean Sweep Auctions) and bidding started at $200.00 with no reserve. The auction ends in 14 days. I will post the current bid in my next post.

A truly remarkable and historic item, this is the actual sign from right field at old Yankee Stadium. Removed from the stadium after the final game of the 1973 season by our consignor's brother, this has been in a closet for over 40 year. Measuring 61 x 29, this is an actual section of the right field wall marking 296 feet from home plate. A real keepsake for the die hard Yankee fan or stadiana. This is in at best VG condition with some peeling off the painted numbers but the display value is simply tremendous. The close right field has played such a key part in Yankee history, how great is it to actually own the sign that hung in right field in Yankee Stadium? As this is such a unique item, it is difficult to assign a price, we have decided to open it at an almost impossibly low minimum bid and see what happens. This is a truly unique opportunity to own one of the most unique features of Yankee Stadium.

I wonder where all the memorabilia goes, of sports, entertainment, culture, etc. There is so much of it and there is constantly being generated more and more. Where is it all?

It looks like a fairgambit enterprises new, low-quality, and overpriced sign.

Was this item stolen from the stadium at the end of the '73 season? The Yankees might want it back at that price.

And I don't see any mention of certification in the ad. If I was going to pay that much for something I'd want it to be certified as authentic by the Yankees.

This photo from the final pitch in '73 appears to show the right field padding cover as green, whereas the picture from the auction site looks black. Could just be the photos.

I don't know anything about the sign other than what is at the auction site, but I do know this. If I was going to pay 46K for sign, I would make damn sure it was authentic.

Nothing!!

You’d be a real dumb ass for buying it!

Maybe someone has one or at least a pic of one, but does anyone remember the road signs in the 70’s with a pic of the Nittany Lion and I believe a football on it. They were posted on 322 and maybe other routes as well during the football season. We had tons of them but I can’t remember ever stealing one of them. I think we just left them behind when we left. I sure wish I had kept at least one of them.
