How must Jim Harbaugh feel today?

I don't think there is a single person more influential to college football right now other than Herbie. I mean, did you see his schedule the last several months? Between his studio shows, the NFL on Amazon and his college football it is amazing. He did a national championship playoff game on Saturday and the Rose on Monday.

Correct because he's the best right now in the business.

Agree. He's VERY influential...so when he calls something a fluke, it takes hold nationally. I think that was my original point. He became a big time OSU homer with his 2016 comment....like he usually does at some point...but it is typically much more subtle. He is often very supportive of a school before they play OSU and even after...if the Buckeyes win. If they lose, however, and that school possibly threatens post season future of his vaunted Bucks, he will sabotage and obfuscate...in this case, with his "fluke" and "eye test" narratives.

As to his schedule, yes he is very busy and very well known. I have a difficult time listening to him though as he and Fowler feel the need to never have even a second of quiet airtime while doing a game. Sometimes the best announcers know when to shut the hell up and just let the moment be. i'll give Herbie credit though for one time when he was uncharacteristically quiet on a broadcast...the moment Marcus Allen blocked the FG until he announced his next game. CF had to carry him to the end of that one.

He was crestfallen. Literally 2 full minutes of silence from a color man in the booth of a huge game deciding play...lol.

This is the most insane thing I've read. You're not seeing reality just what you want to believe as a Penn State fan. Calling Herbie biased is just laughable. You probably think Matt Millen and Blackledge aren't when both are far worse.

Yes… that 2 minutes was heavenly ….and spoke volumes about what a phony he truly is.

At least once a year, he can’t hide his true feelings.

Calling Herbie biased is just honest.

Tell the truth…you have a Herbstreit/Bucknuts shrine in your basement.

It's not--you just want him to be biased because you don't like the reality that in 2016 Ohio State was an easy pick over Penn State. We should have been in over Washington but anyone still claiming we should have been in over Ohio State is delusional.

So you are a buckeye fan. Got it.

No they aren’t. It is obvious you are a bucknutter.

Millen is a terrible listen. He's got this goofy mix of old man / ex Lion / ex NFL GM quality where he rattles on or gets obsessed with something and keeps going. I've never took him as biased one way or the other, but for an alum he sure doesn't sell Penn State very well compared to the army of Buckeye alums that work for ESPN.

Blackledge is one of my favorites. He's fairly subdued in comparison to his color counterparts and does a decent job of breaking things down without going into any hyperactivity or overly technical. I think he's a good representative of PSU, but I've never heard him sell us for a spot the way Herbie does OSU.

Might just be my opinion, and you can have yours, but please quit pretending that Herbie isn't a Buckeye shill. Listen to his NFL broadcasts. 50% less enthusiasm compared to a Buckeye broadcast.

Go watch the SEC on CBS. They sell whoever is playing as "THE team". Or hey maybe I'm wrong.

Herbie literally has that enthusiasm in every game. Buckeye fans hated him so much he moved to get away from them like a decade ago. You guys believe he biased towards Ohio State because he went to Ohio State that's all it is. Blackledge is far worse. Millen is a terrible listen--one of the worst in ever so at least we agree there.

The name of this game is PSU always sucks, and everything everybody else does is awesome. It's a tired old bit among board trolls. Michnittlion was well established at it. LC seems like an apostle, if not actually the same person. Eventually half the traffic on the board becomes posts sparring with him. It's a mental illness.

Man…You spend an awful lot of time on your rival’s message board!

At this point he and Fowler are so well known there is a comfort factor with the two. I like Fowler because he is pro PSU driven by his Dad being a PSU professor at one point. Herbie is overrated. He's one of these guys that if you met him and worked with him or whatever then you would first think he is a nice guy but then realize he is a snake.

Comprehending someone from Ohio State is good at their job and unbiased doesn't make me an Ohio State fan--difficult concept I know
Word of advice…You would be able to hide it better if you occasionally posted something positive about Penn State.

Guess he feels pretty good about team as returning to UM. They will be favorites next year with Stroud leaving. We'll see if CJF can do anything next year with OL. At home should help.

Looks that way
I think people, including myself, underestimate how much job security he has at Michigan. He might just be one of those guys that likes being chased to build up his ego.

Maybe he copied Franklin to get more money for assistants and better facilities.

Nonsense, I never said "PSU always sucks." You're putting words in my mouth.

What I HAVE said, though is this: (1) JoePa deserved to get fired back in 2011. (2) James Franklin has a history of not getting his team mentally ready for big games, which is why they typically (though) not always lose. (3) James Franklin will never get PSU to the "elite" levels of college football, and we need to move to another coach if that is PSU's long-term goal.

PSU's pathetic performance against Michigan in 2022 --- where the team was so mentally unprepared that (1) one of our "on-field leaders" took an undisciplined unsportsmanlike penalty on the FIRST play of the game, and (2) we resorted to throwing food at U-M players at halftime in some childish attempt to trash-talk with them (seriously, WTF?) --- is further proof as regards #2 and #3 above.

Franklin is good for going 10-3 (+/- 1 win) and getting us regularly into the Top 15. I'll believe in when I see it, though, as regards ever being next level elite (e.g., a Top 4 playoff team, something U-M and OSU have done multiple times, including just last year, in Franklin's PSU tenure).
