Btw I don't have an issue with PSU at all. Great fans and great school. I just think that discounting TN because Bama has owned us for 10 years is laughable. Who has owned Bama in the last decade? BTW TN had a 9 game win streak against them before this streak that they're on vs TN. No other program in the history of college football has more wins vs Bama that TN. How would you do vs them every year?
I don't think it is, but it certainly isn't superior either.
You guys got a nice pickup in Shoop, just be aware that he's a rental, not a purchase- he won't be there for long. If you are looking for a long term guy, he isn't it. As for us, I don't want anybody who doesn't want to be here, so this is a win-win as far as I'm concerned.
There was no 9 game TN win streak.
Between 1971–1981, Alabama held an eleven-game winning streak over the Volunteers and, between 1986–1994, a nine-game unbeaten streak. However, following Alabama's streak, Tennessee responded with a seven-game winning streak from 1995–2001. Alabama has won the last nine meetings from 2007 to 2015.
I think we all are aware he won't be here in 2-3 years, but that means he did his job well. Our last DC has no options for a DC job. So we definitely upgraded. You guys will not miss a beat with Pry though. He is a great person and the players love him.
Thanks for the correction sir. Still we have historically been a thorn in Bama's side. We're the only team in the East that has to beat them twice to win the SEC. Plus we schedule the likes of Oregon, Oklahoma, Virginia Tech, Cal, and Notre Dame as OOC games. So with that we have had a top 10 strength is schedule over the past 15 years.
No doubt, TN is considered to be our biggest rival. Your steady improvement under Jones does not bode well for the rest of the east. And your OOC scheduling has been top notch. You are definitely on the upswing.
It's all about getting over the hump by adding the right players, assistant coaches, and coordinators. We lost to Bama 19-14 on the road after leading them late in the 4th quarter. Your conference champion got beat 38-0 by them. Under Derek Dooley and Butch when he too over Dooley's mess we were losing to them by anywhere from 31-38 points. I'd say we're getting pretty close with progress.
I don't remember mentioning PSU in my post. I don't think PSU is ready to challenge for the BIG east, I'm realistic about where the roster is and how depleted the sanctions left it. You on the other hand are deflecting from my factual evidence that the realistic ceiling for TENN is the SEC east title. TENN has been an after thought in the east for years, and while that may change, I certainly wouldn't be proclaiming that PSU is back because we thumped NW and lost a few close games.
I don't hate TENN, but I am realistic. And TENN hasn't owned anyone in the past 10 years. Hell, even Franklin was 2-1 against the Vols while at Vandy.
You also seem to like this transitive theory concerning football scores. Just because one team beats another doesn't necessarily denote who is better. Look at Michigan. Blew out Florida, would they do the same to TENN, who lost to Florida? Somehow I don't think you believe this.
You seem angry. It's ok man you deflected my comments and I thought I defended my position fairly well. Well as for the topic at hand. It seems that you haven't taken our strength of schedule in account for any of your ramblings itt.
There's some great teams in the Big 10, but what would your record be facing the same teams. Also Derek Dooley and Lane decimated our roster just like sanctions would have. We had 6 players stay off of Lane's one class, and Dooley went one year without signing a single OL. Butch has flipped this roster. So come with it now. What would your record be with Oregon, Oklahoma plus Bama, GA, FL, SC, and MO on your schedule?
The issue I was discussing was TENN's ceiling and where they would end up. I showed you that the west has won 8 straight SEC title games and I don't think it is a scandalous statement that the trend will continue. No where have I said that PSU was a better team because of this. In fact, I believe I have stated the contrary, respectfully I may add (don't know where the anger idea of yours came from.) No name calling or denigrating of your favorite team.
Do you want me to say Tenn is better than PSU? You do realize this is a PSU board. It amazes me how fans of other teams come to a PSU Board and expect all of us to fawn over their teams. I've given an opinion and apparently this is not yours, so I will just say have a good night and good luck next year to the Vols.
Good luck...Shoop's record up here re crucial stops is pretty bad...esp. when the opponent is in 3rd and long. Ya'll may be in for some major disappointments. Been a topic on this board for two years.
