How to shut down PSU offense right now

Warren isn't "always open" as seen on the 4th down play at the goalline--depending on the route he can throw it to him in tight coverage (we say the 50/50 ball to Warren last week) but not every time. There's never been a player in the history of the game that was "always open".
Wallace hasn't shown the ability to do that and after dropping the TD last week I'm guessing his looks will be limited.
Most people are overreacting to one game against the best team we've seen or will see.

Wallace not only bobbled a beautiful pass from Allar in the end zone, he got outmuscled for the ball. It seemed like he did not fight for it like Ohio State’s DB did on that play.

Basically, the Ohio State DB took Wallace’s lunch money without much of a fight.

On the interception In the end zone. (Heck of a play by OSU).

The rule was interpreted different than in VaTech Miami game.

In that game they stated that the WR touch not caught touch the ball while out of bounds.

Wallace was out of bounds with his hands on the ball. According to the way they called the VaTech Miami play it should have been incomplete

I think almost everyone agrees the VA Tech call was wrong.

If they double Warren then our run game will look a lot better. Their run defense is not great, and stat-wise worse than USC, WV, Maryland, and Minnesota. They have to choose between putting another guy in the box to stop the run or doubling our best player. I just don't think they have the talent to shut us down just by doubling Warren. You need a lot of other players and they don't seem to have them.

I give us an 80-85% chance against Washington. If we lose then several things will have gone wrong since we are clearly the better team.
Will PSU attempt to run outside? Any update on Quinton Martin's status? His outside speed would be helpful.

How can we exploit anything when you don’t have any wide receivers that are any good ?

When’s the last time one of our receivers caught a touchdown pas. Lando?

WR play is not a problem? Cmon man, don’t be ridiculous.
WR is a problem--obviously it's a problem.
But not enough that we can't beat the 4 teams left on our schedule and anyone outside the big 4--I'm not even 100% sure we couldn't beat Texas. or Georgia if Ewers and Beck continue to turnover the ball at this pace.
Oregon and Ohio State--yeah, I'm betting against us but we're making too big of a deal over our shortcomings while ignoring others.

I’m waiting Lando when’s the last time a PSU receiver caught a td pass

Martin was at practice yesterday but it doesn't sound like Franklin gave much of an update on his status. Kaden Saunders was also at practice for the first time in a while so that is good news.

There's always Corey Smith but I don't even know if he's played yet this year.

Keon Wylie was practicing as well.

Washington does not have the defensive talent to simply double Warren and then be successful with one on one or whatever the matchups are. Plus they don't have a D Line nearly as physical or talented as OSU's.

This will be a good test to get the WRs going and the run game going. I expect us to be able to do both. I also expect Warren to have a good game with a few catches (at least 5). Washington will be incapable of totally shutting him down.

We do need to key in on their RB and they have a decent passing game so they will put up points. Could be around 31-17 but I think we come close to covering. Remember we will be helped by the White Out and the crowd will be electric because we are still in the playoff hunt.

Just avoid turnovers, undisciplined penalties that give them a 2nd life and any other non fundamentally sound football like coverage mixups or getting faked out on some kind of trick play.

To me, Kaden Saunders coming back is irrelevant in terms of his impact. Saunders has never been elusive enough to make a difference on special teams and he is average in a WR room that may be the worst in the B1G conference.

OSU has corners and safeties that are good enough and athletic enough to play one on one with our receivers and other tight ends. Fortunately, we won't see another team that has that capability until after the Maryland game.
I guess we will find out tonight.

Saunders has done very little in his career at PSU. The last two seasons there were high hopes he would come on and be a difference maker and it has not come close to happening. Granted he has been hurt this season but he has shown very little on the field when he has been out there. He may portal at the end of the season.

I agree he was a just a warm body on special teams but I always had hope that he would break out as a WR.
