Wow, already?

I'm not watching either. And it's no protest or anything like that. For me it's just that two SEC teams playing each other isn't that interesting.

To each their own though.

I love college football, not minor league sports. Watching this game would be a complete waste of time.

Ideally there would be a P12 versus B1G semifinal and an ACC vs SEC semifinal, pretty much would guarantee a championship game with geographic diversity which to me drives interest. With the B12 still around and some worthy G5 teams that obviously can't happen.

And would guarantee a blowout in the championship game

I will start paying attention again when they get rid of the eye test and instead mandate some sort of qualifying objective accomplishment(s).

Being the 3rd most accomplished team in the SEC or the Big10 just doesn't strike me as a great measuring unit for qualifying accomplishments. But hey. As long as we have that "eye test" measuring unit, all is good.

The "eye" test has had a different name for almost 80 years - it's called "the poll system". So, unless you were born in the last couple of years, the polls have been part of the college football life for as long as you have been alive. So, there has always been an "eye" test.

My personal "this is why sometimes I consider not watching anymore" moment of the night:

Trent Johnson of Georgia made a great play for a DL last night. There was a bubble screen, and rather than give up on the play, he pursued. The WR broke a tackle, made multiple moves including a spin and got 12 yards downfield, past the first down marker. Just as he came out of that spin, Johnson finally caught up to him and absolutely leveled him.

Now, if I'm an NFL scout, I love every single thing about Johnson on that play...except the part where he then crawled along the field in celebration for 10 yards, then got up and did a Hulk stomp back towards the field. You did everything right, it was really well done by you. But it was also a 12 yard gain and a first down, so maybe don't act like it was a grand play for the team.

It’s gotten to the point that there’s almost a celebration by SOMEONE, offensively or defensively.....or even by a member of the coaching staff.....ON EVERY SINGLE PLAY.

It really detracts from the quality of the game. Very very sad.

What’s next.....celebrations by the officials when they actually get a call right?

I went to bed early. Was tired and wasn't that interested for the same reason. Didn't care enough to watch the game that would have happened a month ago if Auburn hadn't held on v. Bama. Just another SEC championship game with a different trophy.
