I am not sure this has been discussed before but I believe Cael trains them to purposely have peeks and valleys. I think they sometimes go into matches highly trained, almost tired. Like the dual is actually a third or fourth match in a day as in a tournament. I have thought this in the past when the whole team has just not looked themselves. For example, last year against Rider Zane stepped on the mat with his nose heavily bandaged, then obviously didn't look himself against Clagon only beating him 3 -2. A week later he looked completely different and fresh at Big Tens.

I think that is why Cael was saying all week that this was just another match and then Bo said it again after the match and added that their focus was the Big Tens. My theory will be confirmed if next week they look entirely different and full of energy. I have been thinking this for a few years, but i think this match was evident that the whole team just didn't look like themselves. Let me know what everyone thinks.

I would have to agree.....If more than one or two look like it was their 3rd match of the evening then something is amuck! either trained to fatigue or a bug of some type has invaded the wresting room.

There was on a couple that looked fresh and ready to battle......one being Suriano. I have to agree with several posters who projected a first meeting close loss for him against Gilman. And....Nick taking one if not both of the following possible match ups. Here hoping.....and believing!

Yes. He does. Our best shot is with Hall and Cassar in the line up guys....Bottom line ! Not worried about Mark at all...He will be an AA as a true freshman....Beat Geno twice this week during wrestle offs...This weeks it's Cassar shoot with Matt Mc...We will see....

Athletes at almost every level train through matches/games/events. Hard to say tonight. Suriano looked fine. Gulibon really turned things up late. Nolf was fine....Bo was wow! Zain, Joseph and Mouse looked like they hit a wall. That wall is Iowa.

We got the win. How many teams have won 26-11 at CHA.......I'm not taking the time to look it up but I doubt it happens often. Stunned we pulled the shirt, see how it plays out. It's mid-January. The staff always has us ready in March.

One feels bad for Stoll and Cortez.......and Morelli. All that work....poof it is gone.

cassar's nearing the time that lack of action will make it almost impossible for any meaningful contribution. we saw that last year with nick.

I wouldn't be shocked. Cael is focused on winning the NCAA tournament and to win you have to be able to dig deep and pull out a win when you have wrestled multiple matches that weekend and aren't as fresh as you would like to be.

To train hard before the dual and then have to perform is some real world trial by fire of what it is going to take to win in March.

In most people's minds it would be worth it to lose a dual if it helps to prepare for the big show.

Of course the simple answer would be that there is a cold / flu going around the team. I am just confident that they will be ready when it counts.
