I have to admit, it is very disturbing that PSU BB is left out again in the March Madness frenzy!

We at least used to have a decent women's team until our coach was fired for sexual harassment. Since then, it seems that both the men's and women's teams have been completely shut out of the NCAA's or occasionally make it to the NIT. I would have been happy to at least follow either team in the NIT tournament. Well, here's hoping we can find new HC's in the future who could up our national status. I don't buy into the notion that we can't bring in the more elite inner-city players because we are located in the sticks. We are now getting better players, we just don't know what to do with them now that they are here! I know I will likely get counter arguments now that I don't know what I am talking about and that our men's team is young and on the rise. Well, I hope that is correct, but here we are again with another year of having to watch other schools I could care less about playing in a very exciting NCAA tourney!

Your statements seem divorced from facts. First off, Renee was not fired for sexual harassment. Second, Coquese's 1st year was 2007-08. Since then her teams appeared in the NIT 1 time (2010) and appeared in the NCAAs 4 times (2011, 12, 13, 14).

The men's team is a different dynamic. Chambers inherited almost nothing, and has had some unfortunate injuries with the few talented players that he did. He now has the most talented group that he's ever had, and stands a good chance of making postseason competition next year.

Tom, my post was based on how it seems to me, and yes, not based on facts. OK, so using your facts, our women's team has had more success and appeared in 4 NCAAs from 2011-2014. I'll give Coquese a break, although I'm not impressed by her coaching ability. As for the men, I expected someone to come to the defense of Chambers, but I honestly don't think he is the person to properly develop the better talented kids he has successfully recruited. There does not seem to be a team leader on the floor or on the sideline. My post was all emotionally driven based on frustration that we can't field a basketball team that can even sniff a possible national championship! BTW, why was Renee fired then?

She wasn't fired. Ever hear of "google"?
If you need to google what happened to Renee Portland, than you weren't really following what happened to her. She may not have officially been fired, but she was forced to leave then based on her anti-lesbian accusations. She was a great BB coach for Penn State!

FWIW, the Lady Lions also played in the WNIT this year. They lost to Va Tech in the third round a couple of days ago.
