I know we've only seen him a couple times as starter @49, but...

Madden is nothing like the Jammenz idiot, but Patrick Kennedy might want to spend his time wondering when Carter uses up his time at PSU so he feels safe finally getting on the mat. Maybe he can suck down to 165 on the CStarr diet that will be all the craze in the BIG these next few years.

Wonder if that was a factor for Nijenhuis sucking down to 165 (2020 PIAA champ at 182) for Purdue?

He and CStar have a history.

I was an 11B, 4th Battalion 31st Infantry, from Jul 1998-May 2002. When did you serve there?

I was a PL in D/1-87 and A/1-87 from 2011 to 2014. Including a trip to lovely RC-East.

Had several friends in 4-31. My soldiers would occasionally decorate your little bear.

I've puzzled to myself over adult beverages that TR moved his ball bag to behind the pay wall just so our ilk stopped harassing him.

I mean who pays intermat to just get his rants and v45.0 about fight shorts vs singlets.

You would think if he was breaking any news on it we would be hearing about it
Agreed. Intermat not even on my favorites list anymore. Wah wah wah. Kept waiting for TR to come up with something fresh. Never happened. The mailbag was interesting, then they put it behind the paywall. Even though it's fairly inexpensive it wouldn't be worth it at 1/3 the price!

Leave George alone! Haha! You are quite a bit younger than me. It was quite the experience up there. Had some fun trips to Canada back when you could cross the border pretty easily.

Nijenhuis (170) wasn't winning another state championship at 182 with Carter there.
They wrestled that year for the 182 pound Powerade championship. The final score was a 3 or 4 point difference, the separation was 2 or 3 times greater.

I plan to start a new thread that is a poll on “what’s your favorite 149 thread?” I don’t think the poll thread would win its own poll, so I plan to start another thread to win the poll, called “We have enough 149 threads”. :)

Absolutely true. Should be noted that they faced several times in 3 years -- always tough, physical matches -- and Starocci won every time.
- 2017: 3-1 at Powerade, 5-1 at states
- 2018: 3-1 in Feb (state duals?), 3-1 SV at states
- 2019: 5-2 at Powerade

The 2019 Powerade match was a slugfest. They had to be separated at the end.

9-house later dropped to 170 and won states. (It was the right decision -- he wrecked Edmond Ruth in the finals, which made him an even more attractive recruit.)

The he went back up to 182 and dominated in 2020 as expected.

Be careful CJFisJoePall, if you post about 149 or Beau Bartlett, you’re at risk of The Thread Police knocking on your door to make a citizen’s arrest for posting in the wrong spot or with the wrong content!

Yes -- or maybe Bouzakis stays 141 and Bartlett goes 149.

IMO your idea is more likely. For most HS 138s I'd say absolutely yes. The difference with Bouzakis is that he's already very muscular -- and while rare we have had a few guys who never outgrew their HS weight in college.
And then there was Pat Smith who not only HELD his 134 class for 4 National championships but he won his Oklahoma HS championships at 148 and 157. Lol. He outgrew his college weight years earlier in HS.

9-house got a little nuts at the end of that last match ;)

Well, OKST. Wildasin outgrew his college weight in HS too.

Life is great when "you are ignoring content by this member". Just put him on ignore and decide case by case if you need a laugh or not. Why bring that stuff into your life? I love reading a Roar or El Jefe post. Madden et. al, not so much.

Many HS kids have done that. 6th year senior James Woodall wrestled at 149. Senior year in HS he wrestled at 160.
Marsteller wrestled 170 in HS and dropped to 157 at Okie State. From what I have heard.....he loved dropping down :)

OKST jokes aside, Marsteller wrestled 165 at Lock Haven, not 174, so maybe he could've been 160 his HS SR year ... maybe.

Some top guys have actually wrestled up a weight their HS SR year for the challenge, so sometimes it's better to look at JR year weight. Unfortunately it's a case by case situation.

Offhand we know Starocci, Nijenhuis, and McCutcheon all did.

Honestly, I don't get the harsh reactions to @jmadden1998 and a couple other Iowa fans. I don't mind good-natured ribbing from opposing fans. Some of it is funny and much of it mirrors stuff many of us post here without objection. I gotta confess that I cringe a little when our own good BWI mates respond like what I've been led to believe is common brashness on HR.
I'll second this. Jmadden1998's comment in this thread about Facundo avoiding Kennedy was kind of funny IMO and was comfortably short of "dickishness". There are plenty of HR guys who are absolute tools, but thankfully they generally stay away from this board.
