I went to the Amelia Island car show last weekend.

pretty darned impressive. As I understand it, it is the third largest in the world. This 1959 Ferrari 250 took the top bid at just under $9,500,000. It was $500 to attend the auction and I did not spend that kind of money to watch. I did fall in love with a 1957 Black Corvette with red interior though. LINK They expected it to go for between $80k and $100k. As I understand it, they had 169 vehicles with an expected value of $79m.

Everything was free except the auction and parking at the Ritz Carlton. They had a parade but it was mostly locals and secondary cars. The primo stuff was on the lawn of the R-C. My point is that you can go and enjoy it for next to nothing.

They did have a burned out hulk sitting there and said it had sold last year for $650k+ and burned on the way to it's new owners.

I talked to a guy who makes these, below, for $500k in Tennessee. It takes two years. He then asked me "what is keeping you from ordering one of these right now?" I responded "About $485,000".

Hey I just looked up the Lotus. The car is a Lotus 49, which made its debut in F-1 in 1967 and was made famous by Jim Clarke.

You're are correct! it was a 1969 Lotus. Here is the article. I'll change my post to reflect that. Good catch! A friend texted me the winners and said it was a 49. it looks like it was a Lotus 49 that was made in 1969. I don't know much about cars previous to fairly current models.
