I'll call it TD on a run, by Journey Brown! the score 38-6.

If we only score 38 then we have some big issues.

Maybe, but its the first game with a QB making his first start after only seeing mop up time in the past, changes on the OL, no clear #1 receiver, a ton of RS FR seeing some action, vanilla play-calling, etc.

I believe PSU scores more, as much from the Defense providing a short field than anything, but if the OL has a few issues, or Clifford isn't lights out in his first start, "only" 38 isn't out of the question.

I can not see Idaho doing anything on offense. Our offense will score at will even with all the new starters. The Vandals are not a good team....not at all... PSU should destroy them

Look up Idaho, they are an FCS (old div 1AA) team. They had a losing record last year. In the two games they played against FBS teams in Fresno state and Florida they gave up an average of 70 points. If PSu only scores 38 that means the offense has major issues.

Maybe, maybe not. People should ignore the scoreboard and try to evaluate the level of play. PSU might play really sloppy football and still be able to name the score. They could win 38-0 playing a very clean game. Or win 63-24 and play a really sloppy game. I'd take the shutout.

I'm just hoping for no sloppy penalties, no personal fouls, crisp execution on offense (as much as it is possible for this time of year), solid D that doesn't fall for fakes and give up easy yards. I look for maturity and self-discipline. A team that plays hard and smart for 4 quarters.

And an offensive line that protects the QB and makes some room for running backs. Offensive balance is always a good thing to see.

No. you cannot play a clean game and only win by 38. this is the varsity playing the JV team. We are not Michigan and they are not App State from a decade ago. if JFF benched the entire first string and only the second string and scout team could play on Saturday, then winning by 38 would be acceptable.

I’d like to see a stop-and-go / pump-and-go, Clifford to George for the touchdown.

Gotta stay ultra vanilla so as to not show too much before the Pitt game.
Actually, our first 4 games (including pitt) are against cupcakes so I think they keep their best plays under wraps until either Purdue or Iowa.

I was reading a Vandals message board yesterday and their fans have less than zero confidence in their team. One guy said he thinks a stacked intramural football squad from the 40k students at UP could probably beat them.

If you want a close game, I think that would be the PSU scout team against Idaho.

I remember the dark years, and couldn't believe we were going to lose to Toledo of all teams (Think they had a Pro RB on that team), I won't overlook anybody, anymore.
