Illinois vs Nebraska

It’ll be a big challenge for the PSU O line to protect the QB and get some run game going. Allar will need to be on top of his game and have some quick release options for when protection fails.

It seemed like the Illinois D backs stayed close with receivers but still far enough off at times that an accurate pass game could beat them and extend drives.

The D needs to get pressure and watch for the down and out patterns by tight ends toward the goal lines. The Illinois wide receivers were wide open on those plays tonight.

Wazzu with a bit of a let down after last weeks Apple Cup win. WSU 24, San Jose St 17 at the half.

Has a Big Ten team ever had a coach weigh as much as his team’s offensive line?
Shouldn't make fun of another's physique.....may come back to haunt in the future..
The Big Guy has been around the horn for a few decades, with the knowledge gained, he may definitely be a secondary player in determining our playoff position.

Illinois always seems to have some good D lineman and is able to run the ball.

Nebraska just can’t get over the hump. OT series on offense was painful to watch.

Those are the things that worry me about PSU.

On offense we don't seem to have many quick release passes. They're more the standard drop back variety. On defense we constantly blitz a LB or DB. Even our DEs are more focused on getting to the QB that they are about sealing the edge. That makes us susceptible to an opponent's quick release passing game.

Week 1 the DEs did a great job sealing the edge and most were complaining they didn't get to the QB. We clearly weren't ready for BGSU's quick pass scheme and adapted in the second half.

Illinois wins in OT.

Their OC called a great game. They are good and will be top 20 when we play them. They have good RBs who run downhill. Solid defense. We better be ready to play.
Both defenses particularly LB and DB look weak. Good for us but Nebraska was probably a little over rated.
