Guys my appearance on the Pa. Sports Network tomorrow [Saturday] morning at 10 AM might be my last appearance here in the Lions Den for the next seven to 14 days.
I'm sure that everyone here in the Lions Den is fully aware that my wife, Priscilla, has had some significant health problems this past year. Back in late May the Friday [May, 26] Priscilla suffered a stroke that affected her speech and facial makeup.
The past few months Priscilla had a remarkable improvement, but unfortunately she had a minor setback and had to have a few tests taken at Geisinger Grays Woods yesterday Thursday [Dec. 26]. The EKG and blood tests were positive, but the full report from Priscilla's chest and side xrays won't be delivered to us until early next week.
The really good news is that Priscilla is feeling a whole better starting today. And thanks everyone here in the Lions Den for all the wonderful encouragement you have given to our family over the past six months.
That brings me to another matter both Priscilla and myself have been dealing with the past nine months. I know there are a number of Lions Den members who know my brother, Bill, but at the request of my sister-in-law, Henrietta, I've not brought up Bill's health situation. Bill was my biggest supporter when I began my publication 'Catch Lions Fever" back in the spring of 1981 and he's a member of the Founders Club and a proud Nittany Lion member at Penn State and dearly loves all Penn State sports, but especially football, wrestling and basketball.
Unfortunately, Bill for the past nine months has been basically in a hospice type of situation suffering from both both Alzheimer's and Parkinson's Disease. I received a call from my sister-in-law this morning and she notified me that Bill had suffered a stroke and that he had been admitted to the hospital. We are waiting for details about Bill's situation.
That means for the next seven to possibly ten days I won't be here in the Lions Den all that often if at all. I just ask everyone to say a few prayers for Bill and especially Henrietta who has been forced to deal with an almost impossible situation for the past four years.
I don't want my situation to dominate the Lions Den and take away any attention from tomorrow's Cotton Bowl Game and what my brother would say is quite possibly the most exciting winter sports season Penn State might be experiencing over the next couple of months during my brother's long love affair with Penn State sports.
Just want to thank everyone here in the Lions Den for all the kind words that have been sent in my family's direction over the past year and wanted to give you an understanding of why you won't be hearing from me all that much here in the Lions Den over the next seven to 14 days.
