Impressions of Cam Brown?

Can he be the type of impact LB that can help us compete for a national title?

My goodness he was impressive yesterday. He played like a hunter. Ham was all over his height and length and how he can be brought down low to the line of scrimmage and impact the passing game With tipped passes. He is what is needed for the way games are played now.

He was a beast in the Blue White game and played well again yesterday.

Yea I think he can. I was impressed with him.

he has improved significantly since last year. way too thin last year and got knocked around alot. he made real solo tackles yesterday - something i dont think he could do last year. another 20# of muscle and you are looking at a future all BIG player.

Although just one game, I thought Brown was perhaps most improved player from end of last year to first snap this year on D. Injuries forced him to burn a redshirt he would have gained a lot of good from but he looks like a beast. Still built a bit awkward for a LB at 6'5" but he is filling out (almost 20 pounds heavier than the weight what he arrived at before last season) and think his footwork looked a lot better.

Yeah, he wasn't quite ready last year, but he now looks like an NFL prospect who may not have stayed for 5 years anyhow.

He will be special........especially when he fills out that frame. I really like Koa, he's a really nice guy and things have finally opened up for him, but he is going to have a hell of a time keeping Cam off the field. Lucky for him Cabinda will move on after this year.

I think they're prepping Cam for the Cabinda role. Not sure what type of verbal leader the guy is but he has swagger for days. The kind of swagger that only comes from realizing you're one of the most physically dominating players on the field. Like I said, special with a nasty streak, and that brings an edge all defenses desperately need.

Yep, he still has 20+ lbs of muscle to go, but he is much improved from 2016 and will continue to get better each game he plays......

It was also good to see Cooper, Jan Johnson and others get playing time at LB to continue to build depth at the position....

Coming off the edge on passing downs, he is a real problem for QB's.
I also expect him to block at least one punt this season.

It's all there. He'll be good. This year, you're still going to see the early career mistakes. As others have noted, he has a long way to go in terms of filling out that frame. This is a year that will tease you with the possibilities, but he will not be a complete player. His best football is definitely ahead, probably in the NFL.

He made the wrong reads and took bad angles last year. He still ran himself back into most plays.

Against Akron, he appears to have corrected such. I noticed a tfl at one point where he just looked dominant and fast. He's going to get a lot of reps this year. He's a 1b player. Love to see him and Koa blitzing on the same play.

IMO, best linebacker on the field Saturday and it wasn't even close. Plays as violent as Marcus Allen.

And boy is he a terror on the blitz. He creates havoc for the QB with the way he was knocking guys backwards and getting his arms up.

Let's stop worrying about the awkwardness and start recognizing the freakish advantage this guy possesses.
