Thought there'd be no harm in posting this in the calm before next weekend...
Penn State's Club Wrestling team is in Allen, TX for the 2018 NCWA National Championships, where they are projected to place third in D2 and top 20 overall based on seeds. There are two divisions in the NCWA, with the D2 teams typically being student-coached and funded club teams and D1 being significantly funded with staff and the like. A thing to include is that the National Duals to contribute to National Championships scores. (The Penn State WC was the only D2 team to qualify for and attend the National Duals this year.)
If you're a fan of PA wrestling, there's plenty of local teams going: Other PSU Commonwealth campuses, Temple, West Chester, Williamson and more. There's also a bunch of other cool teams to see like Clemson, Yale, UCF, UNLV, BYU, and other schools that have dropped their program in the past.
We had more wrestlers qualify and a handful more that likely could have qualified, but with Nationals being over spring break and it being a mostly self-funded endeavor, some wrestlers have to pass. Here's our guys going:
Brock Lieberman - 141 (3rd)
Dan Ritz - 157 (3rd; AA at 149)
Cody Houston - 165 (3rd)
Thomas Hatzipavlides - 174 (Wildcard)
Deontay Wadley - 197 (5th)
In the past, forum posters have been a significant part of our fundraising efforts, so I wanted to post a quick update for those who might care to see.
